I haven't been here in ages, but a message to those worried about weight gain

It is very rare that I come around here anymore.   The kids keep me busy and I play on FB instead.  I'm done having kids so really there is no reason for me to hang around.

Anyway, I just wanted to let those who are worrying about losing the weight after the baby that it can be done.  I know it's easier said than done to not worry about it, but try.  You guys are pregnant and even with all the morning sickness, aches and pains, etc., this should be one of the most wonderful times in your lives.  The last thing you should be worrying about is the weight gain.  I'm not telling you all to go out and each a bunch of crap on a daily basis, but when you get a craving for something eat it.  Don't worry about it.  It's one stinking meal or one stupid piece of chocolate.  I get that we all have past weight issues and don't want to gain it all back, but unless you are eating BK (and that's just a made up example) for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 15 snacks in between, you're fine.

You are going to gain what you are going to gain.  You could be eating sprouts and veggies and still gain 100 pounds.  Like I said, weight loss surgery or not, you will gain what you are meant to gain.  I had twins and gained 42 pounds with them, then I had a singleton and gained 23 pounds with her.  I lost all my baby weight and then some.  It took lots of hard work and dedication.  I got up at 4 am to meet my trainer at the gym at 5.  I did this 3 days a week.   If you cannot afford a trainer, that's not an excuse.  If you think you don't have time, trust me you do and you can find it.  It's all about priorities.  You don't need a trainer to workout.  Hell just get outside (or to your local school) and just start walking.   I wanted to post a few a pictures.   I  am almost 10 years post-op from a DS so trust me, I KNOW WTF I'm talking about because I have been around the block.

I finally got around to having my tummy tuck and a breast lift/implants.   HOWEVER, I am going to post some pictures of myself BEFORE plastics to show you that you can get fit without it.   I still struggle with weight issues and self esteem issues, but I promise you ladies, just eat your piece of chocolate, eat your occasional carbs, eat what you can keep down, just stop making yourselves crazy.    Ok?  LOL

Before plastics:

Still before plastics:

Thank you! That was inspirational every month I have gone into the OB I get depressed when I see the number go up on the scale. My OB is sure that I will lose it again and that breast feeding will help. It is nice to hear a good story sense I am back over 200lbs and I get more depressed and stressed and I gain more from the stress. I will eat my dang candy now without gilt!

You look great!

The DS is a much more forgiving WLS.   With the DS, you never lose your Malabsorbtion and if you drop the carbs somewhat after pregnancy - no problem, it's on! With the RNY, if you miss your WLS window with a pregnancy, chances are you may not lose down again.  The body gets really screwed up metabolically and even 1000 to 1200 calories is too much to eat and lose or even maintain.  Then there are the issues of stoma and pouch stretching making it futher difficult with a half/non-working tool. And sure some people are very successful with their RNY post-pregnancy - these are the ones that got to or close to goal and were successful pre-pregnancy - or showing signs of success with the RNY, got pregnant before their window closed, continued to lose during their pregnancy etc.

Just sayin'

Did I say you look fantastical!  Love that DS.  Though I don't need it, it is the biggest and best surgery ever performed for a very responsible individual

Best,
Leila

You look great...thanks for the inspiration!

I am hopefully going to have my tummy tuck and breast reduction/lift in the next couple of months.  I am very worried about the recovery and having a 11 month old.  How was the recovery for you, especially with having the little ones?

Thanks!
