Pregnancy or RNY...Chicken or the Egg??
Honestly I would have the surgery first. Once you hae the surgery time will fly and you will be so wrapped up in learning to eat again and getting healthy before you know it conception time will be knocking on your door.
I had my surgery 2 years ago in November and never "planned" to get pregnant again (current children are 18,17, and 13) but this pregnancy has been allot easier being 160 pounds lighter and knowing how to take care of myself and the baby the right way. (that was a huge problem for me with the last 3...I took eating for 2 to a whole new level)
Good Luck

OMG - I couldn't IMAGINE being pregnant at my pre-op weight. Plus I couldn't get pregnant - we tried for over a year, but looking back I'm glad it didn't happen. You have a lot of factors to consider, but if time is not on your side then I wouldn't go with the band - the weight loss is much slower with the band than the other WLS options.
I started at 324lbs and a size 26. After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011. My second daughter was born in September 2013. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs. I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter. The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls. My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.
You didn't mention your age or your weight, but your story sounds similar to mine. We tried for a few years, went to the RE and got tests done. She recommended having the RNY first. I know you are in a hurry, but what the others said is very true, about becoming healthy first. What if you try for a couple of years and you don't get pg and still have the rny and have to wait anyway?? I was patient and the results are in my siggy. And the time will fly. You will be learning a new lifestyle and enjoying your new freedoms as the weight sheds. Good luck! Shari
I'm 35 years old and choose to take care of me first (RNY) before trying to start a family. My clock is ticking like an atomic bomb but the stats for bearing a child at my orginal weight were so depressing. The WLS-preg stats convinced me that even with the wait and age factor that I'd be better off chooseing to do surgery first.
good luck making your decision.
