i know you have seen the responses and have responded to the others on here...
Hows this...

My baby has Echogenic Bowel, (look it up seriously so you can see what the freak out factor would be on that one). Basically it is this...Genetic Markers for Cystic Fibrosis and Downs....
I didnt have the Alpha Feta Protein Test because it is high factor for false positives. What did they see? basically white "spots" in the intestines that was picked up during ultrasound. To this day they havent gotten worse or gotten better.

Had blood draw for Genetics and Virul studies to see if I have either gene for Downs or CF or a virus caused this. Took 6 weeks to get the results. IF either of those test had come back, I still would love the baby and have him regardless, why? he is my child.

Waited and waited, FINALLY, got the call....ALL came back with awesome results!! NOW, they dont know what exactly is going on other than we are monitoring with Ultrasound, visits with the peri, and blood work. The peri nurse called me with the results and she was asking me LOTS of questions seems how the dr is 2.5hrs away  really didnt have my background. Yes I am postrny, yes there was bleeding, lots for 3months. She replies "oh really?" im like yep. Clots the size of the palms of my hands, "that explains it" she says Im like "ok explain" Her response "while you were bleeding the baby apparently had swallowed blood. Which in turn accumulated in the intestines which will settle and stay there until his first bowel movement"....I hope she is right.
Couple weeks later went to see peri again and he says, that this situation can be simple as the baby having an allergy to milk or glutein (which runs in the family) all the way upto having to have bowel reconstruction due to dead bowel. Best case scenerio? He is going to have a massive poopy after he is born and it will be a blood red color etc and not to freak out....

SO, bottom line, they are just tests. they give you a heads up if there could be a "just in case scenerio"...

Thanks for you reply. I know that must have been stressful. Thanks so much for your story. Of course we will all love our babies no matter what but we want the best and healthiest for our babies. A lot of us had surgery so we could have a better health for ourselves and future pregnancies. Any risk to that freaks me out. I'm a pediatric nurse so I actually have taken care of babies who have had bowl reconstruction. Sometimes it is my past experience taking care of sick babies that make me so scared. I see the stress the families go through.

I will be crossing my fingers that it is as simple as swallowing the blood. Sometimes screening tests can do more harm. I can't wait to hear the good news that your little one is perfect. Thanks again!

I am going to be 37 when my baby girl is born which puts me at 1 in 180 of DS so I had an amnio and am thrilled I did!  Everything came back normal and now I can enjoy my pregnancy.
