Hello all

I am 6 months pregnant and a little over 2 years out from surgery.  I have gained 15 pounds since becoming pregnant. (Am I the only one that stresses over weight gain during pregnancy?  I mean I know you have to gain weight for a healthy baby, but I worry I will gain to much)

This is my fourth pregnancy but the last one was 13 years ago, and I was out of control on eating then so this is all different.

So please share your stories, worries you had, complications....etc

Thank you
Michelle

Only gaining 15 lbs in 6 mos of pg is really good!  From what I can tell, it's normal to freak out about the weight gain.  You were a completely different woman during your last pregnancy.  The out of control eating is not part of who you are today.  So let that one go. ;-)

I just found out I'm pg yesterday and I am NOT looking forward to the weight gain.  I am choosing to keep focused on what's best for our baby.  Try to stay focused on what's best for the baby and your overall health.  Trust yourself and talk to your obgyn & bari surgeon whenever you have any questions.  They are there to help you and they do want you to succeed.

Thank you for your insight.  Trust me I am doing everything I can for our little ma and the OB seems very pleased. I have read where in the last trimester having to feed through iv's once a week and also having possible c-section....  these are just fears/concerns/questions I have.

Having WLS prior to pregnancy automatically puts us into the "high risk" category.  But only your OB really knows for sure what is needed for you and your baby.  You'll be fine - don't let yourself get too freaked out reading too much.

Ahhh... the internet... source of great information as well as builder of fears.  You and your baby will be just fine.

Hey Michelle! Well, I am 26 weeks and 2 days today myself and I have gained between 15-17lbs. I started out at 185 so I was slowly regaining some of the 140lbs I had lost with RNY (close to 40 in about 2 years to be honest!). It will be 4 years in January since I had my RNY, and trust me the FEAR I have every day about weight gain is tremendous. I had gained only 8lbs all the way up to 20 weeks. When I went for me 24 week visit I was shocked to learn I had gained 7lbs in just 4 weeks. I was so excited with the single digit low gain and then bam all of a sudden there it hit me and the 200s roared its ugly head once again. I've been trying to eat as healthy as I can...minus my wonderful craving of some sort of sweets or chocolate EVERY day! UGH! The doctor I had that day seemed very aggitated about my gain and it kind of made me rethink what I was eating and how much. I swear that from weeks 20-24 I was eating EVERYTHING in site and I had gotten out of control. I've gotten back into making myself do my eliptical for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week again...I know it's not much, but something is better than nothing. I've reminded myself over and over baby is doing well and my scale bounces between 200-202 almost every morning now since my last appointment on November 16th. Try not to let it get you down too much and just enjoy the pregnancy! So far, I've had no complications and no real complaints beside gas and the lovely indigestion, but I'll take it all cus in the end I'm anxiously awaiting my little miracle :)

Hope your next few months goes smoothly and you get your sweet precious baby with no complications as w
ell :)   ~Kerri

Well if you look at the 2 new pics I posted you will see that I am mostly all belly......I am carrying very low, which is another worry.

I know the internet can give "crazy" info and my OB is really good about staying on top of things with my high risk pregnancy (not just due to age but also post gastric bypass......)

I am enjoying reading everyones posts and what they have or are currently going through.

Michelle I'm right there with you sister ! I'm so worried,  as I lost a total of 105lbs before becoming pregnant and soooooooooooo scared that I'll be that "fat girl" again. I was so depressed to learn I had gained 12 lbs at my last prenatal visit, which I'm now 6 months too. I got pregnant too early out from surgery (which was definitely not planned), so I didn't get to enjoy those 105lbs too long, so I'm hoping I gain no more than 15-20lbs during this pregnancy, as my surgeon indicated he didn't want me to gain no more than that. It took me a while to get to "Onderland" and I don't want to lose it. But whatever is good for the baby is alright by me. I plan on breastfeeding, so hopefully I'll be back to a good size in a month or so after the baby's here.
Crazy part I've gained 12lbs, but still wearing my size 12 clothes. I haven't had to buy maternity clothes at all and I'm 6 months, so maybe that's a good sign that the baby is gaining and not me :)

Hey Michelle!

I feel like I am Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde or bipolar.....  for six years I have been controlling my eating and weight. I have obsessed over sizes and the scale. I became an exercise fanatic for a bit. Then BAM I am pregnant and supposed to gain a bunch of weight...w t heck?!? I know in my head that those 7lbs, then those 10lbs, etc etc are perfectly normal and its good for the baby, but this little voice inside me is like "what if its not baby weight?! what if its weight on my hips, butt etc, what if I never fit back into those size 6/8 $150 jeans again ?" That little pink line on the stick didn't change my head back to someone who doesn't worry with weight anymore. So NOT an easy road!

My OB has told me at every visit that my weight gain has been perfect btw...but its still very hard.

Glad to know that I am not the only one that is having this insane weight gain moment.  I too obsessed over the scale DAILY!  Then when I dropped into the 130's I knew I was dwindiling away to nothing and had to pick it up a bit.  I can remember PMS water weight and crying for hours because it added 3 pounds to my weight.

Becoming pregnant was amazing because my new husband has no children and he thought it was him but after visits to the doctor we found out it was me.  Then Bam natural pregnancy :-)

So when I look in the mirror I see that I am not putting weight on anywhere else but right in the front, which makes me happy.

Keep them coming because I am so glad to know that I am NOT alone.
