Almost Fainted.5.5 weeks preggers
During your first trimester of pregnancy, your blood pressure is naturally lower than normal. This is due to the increased blood volume produced and vasodilatation. Your blood pressure will normalize and may even be higher than normal in the third trimester.
The lower blood pressure puts you at risk of sudden hypotensive attacks. This happens when you suddenly stand up from sitting, or sit down from a lying position, or even worse if you suddenly stand up from a lying down position (this is called orthostatic hypotension). Another thing that puts you at risk to have a hypotensive attack is exposure to heat or higher temps (eg your warm bath). So put the two together like what happened to you, and you could possibly predict the outcome. Don't worry, it's absolutely natural.
A typical hypotensive attack is like you described. You feel light-headed. Your vision gets blurry. Your heart starts beating faster (palpitations). You might start breathing a bit heavier. And when it's gone, you break out in a sweat! You said that you felt like falling to your knees. This is also typical because as a protective mechanism your body wants you to fall down and get your head level closer to gravity (since when you stood up, the blood rushed down to your legs and your brain was left with less blood pressure - to protect your brain, your body wants your head to come down closer to gravity and raise the blood pressure reaching it again) that's why people typically faint when they have a hypotensive attack but regain consciousness automatically when their head reaches the ground (the blood rushed back into it and they regained consciousness). And that is why you really really need to be careful since you are pregnant.
I would advise you to switch to showers cuz warm baths are discouraged during the first few weeks of pregnancy. Also drink plenty of fluid to bring up your blood pressure. Make sure you're well nourished. And please change positions from lying down- sitting - standing gradually and ideally leaning against a wall or some form of steady support.
Don't worry, it will go away soon enough. Best of luck on your pregnancy.
