not good test results?

Had a test today to measure the back of baby's neck and it measured thicker than they would have liked. I'm so sad. Anyone else have this and it turn out ok?

How far along are you? Just remember it couldve been a misread. If they havent suggested it, just ask for another ultrasound with a different tech. or even with the dr him/herself to do the scan.

They found genetic markers with this baby that indicates cystic fibrosis and downs, they ran the test and came back great. Now we just monitor with ultrasounds and periontologist.

I am 12 weeks. Ultrasound was done by tech and dr. Neck measured 3.6 and they like it to be under 3. Did blood test and depending on those results they suggested an cvs? Or amnio. I was trying to be positive.

When I was a fetus they told my mom I had down syndrome and to abort me right then and there.  Thank goodness she didn't and I deff don't have downs.  It's only a soft marker, not a definate marker.

I hope this is the case with me. This is something every pregnant women fears and I'm living it.

This happened to me.  My blood work also came back with a problem.  It is just a screening and not 100% accurate.  We opted for a amnio at 16 weeks and everything came back fine.  Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out.

My 1st pregnancy that happened too me..at my 20 week U/S..the doctor called me at work and basically said that the neck of the baby was thick and one of the femurs was short and that was 2 markers for down syndrome..so I could either have a medical abortion, amnio or do nothing...I cried all the way home from work and ended up having the amnio...it was the same time as now, durning the amnio my husband said to the doctor how worried we were and his comment was "she has a better chance at having a miscarriage from this amnio than the baby being downs" I thought my husband was going to jump over the gurney and kill him...we waited 6 weeks..everyone tip=toed around christmas and it dcame back NOTHING!!! So don't worry too much!

We had something come back on the ultrasound that was a soft marker for downs.  They suggested further testing, but we decided this was our baby, and further testing wouldn't change anything. We will be happy with what we get. We can't change it, so we decided not to worry about it, and honestly I haven't thought about it again until I read this post. My doctor isn't overly concerned either. Just think about how many times they are wrong about birth weight and even the sex of the baby from ultrasounds.
