Sex/tampons---How long did you wait?

How long after giving birth (if you have) did you wait to have sex and/or use tampons? Especially if you had no epsiotomy cut or tear.

My doctor said wait 4 weeks for either one.

they said 6... i waited 4... i tore

Well this is just me, I waited til 12 weeks to wear tampons b/c my OB told me to not wear tampons til I was done with my post partum bleeding them when I got a period I could wear them. It was a bit odd the first time I wore them. My first period was brutal I bled soooo bad and cramped. OMG!! Now onto sex! I tried at 6-8 wks post partum and it hurt soooo bad I had a bad tear and was soooo swollen. It was painful!! After 12 weeks it got a little better. I felt like my OB sewed me up tighter. Haha!!! It was honestly 4-6 months before it felt normal again. But like I said it's just me. Only do what's comfortable!

OB said 4, we waited 2 for sex.

No feedback on tampons. I use a reusable menstrual cup instead of pads or tampons and didn't get my period for over a year because of breastfeeding.

my dr. pretty adament about 6weeks. tampons were as tolerated. After my first baby, i couldnt even use them anymore. figures, before i got pregnant with this one i could actually start to use them again.

For my 2nd child, i tore badly. I waited for 9weeks before sex. Got pregnant that night. just my luck...lol
with the 3rd i had 2 stitches and was fine at 6weeks for having sex. Just really tender and took our time.
Bottom line, just listen to your body it will let you know when you are ready.

I didn't use tampons for quite a while and after my first son I didn't have a period for over a year due to breastfeeding. However, I did wait about 4 weeks for sex and it was quite painful. We took it slow and eventually things were back to normal. It takes a while. Lube is your friend, LOL, TMI, yeah, but it is the truth! It helps a LOT!
