HELP!!! Weight Loss After Pregnancy
I just had a baby 2 months ago. I gained 45lbs with the pregnancy and have lost 20 lbs (mostly the baby and water weight). I can not start the loss on my own. I have gone back to all protein and everything i can remember from when I first had surgery (over 7 years ago).
It is so frustrating. I have never had a hard time starting to lose weight. I just always used to give up and get bored. This is a lot of extra weight for me to have on me. I have not gained anymore than 10lbs since I had WLS, so this really scares me.
Could there be something else underlying? Could it be a hormone issue? How do i kick start my body into losing again?
Please, anyone that can help me or share their stories with me, I would appreciate. I know you have to reach out for help sometimes, which is exactly what I am trying to do today.
Thank you
Philippa

Sorry but I dont have any help for you. I am going through the same thing. My last baby is 4 months old and I can't lose a thing. I havent tried the 5 day pouch test yet. I don't know if I can to be honest. I am going to see a nutrientionist and then hopfully to a weight loss clinic on base. I was told that it gets easier for us to gain the weight back this far out. That is what I am scared of. I am 6 years out now. But then again, I never even got down to my goal weight either. I will say that after I had my first baby 16 years ago, my thyroid went out and I started gaining weight. Of course that was the first thing to mess up. Now, everything is out of wack. LOL Good luck. I hope it all works out for you.
My OB told me it is safe after the first 6 weeks to do the 5 day pouch test maybe that will help you to get things jump started again. I am so worried about my weight gain, and my OB was assuring me that I am doing good, and that they want to see me gain. I am hoping and praying that I lose at least 20 off the bat! I can't wait to get back to my pilates and yoga (prenatal is not good enough)
Ok...first of all...RELAX! You JUST had a baby! You have to remember that it took 9m to put the weight on and it's going to take at least that to get it off. Especially now as far out as you are as your body has 'adjusted' to you reworked anatomy.
I'm 6y3m post op and my youngest baby is going to be 2 next month and I've not lost all my baby weight. I gained 28lb during my pregnancy and delivered at 173. By 3w pp I was down to 152 but then in effort to bump up my breast milk I started eating these 'milk enhancing' cookies. But the only thing they advanced was the number on the scale. I was back to 167 by the time I went back to work when she was 4m old. I maintained that weight until this year. Since January I've lost 17lb and sit at 150 now (was 145 when I got prego). I chalk up my weight loss to upping my activity (nursing school with classes on the 3rd floor of the college) and being so busy between nursing school and kids that I forget to eat lunch most days (not good I know).
Basically I'm trying to tell you to relax...don't stress on it. Stress increases cortisol levels which in turn can make you gain MORE weight. If you're having fat days...put on your pre op pants...trust me...you're NOT fat. Having 20lb to loose is a far cry from 100+lbs to loose.
Congrats on your new baby!
