Trouble eating as your gets bigger......

So.....the first 22 weeks of pregnancy I was so depressed because I was able to eat and eat and EAT like I never even had surgery. I was so upset. I am 23 weeks and I have gained 15lbs, which to me, is hard to come to terms with (especially knowing I didn't gain that much with my first 2). Well, I read about the hormone relaxin that is released during pregnancy enabling women to eat more. It is also released prior to PMS, which is why I believe I was always able to eat so much the 2 weeks before my period as well, even after RNY I had trouble during the 2 weeks before my period and never lost during that time and even gained during that time. Well.... the last week, as my uterus creeps up past my belly button, I am having a hard time eating as if I just had surgery. I eat a few bites and get full or food gets stuck again. I am guessing it is because my uterus is enlarging and pushing on my insides. Anyone else have this problem or insight??

Same thing happened here. I'm now at 25lbs gained and 36 weeks. I can also tolerate foods that I couldn't before I got pregnant. I still try to eat reasonably though.

I'm definitely starting to feel more restricted on the amounts I can eat as well. I'm 24 weeks and at my appointment on Tuesday I had gained 17lbs total. I too know how you feel about being ULTRA guilty about gaining this much. I'm trying not to focus on the scale and the number on the scale. I'm trying to eat with the healthiest of decisions and just trusting that after baby comes I promise to work extra hard to get it back off. Just about 2 weeks ago I could stuff my face with more than I ever could have imagined and now it's a struggle for me to get down things such as 1 whole apple in a sitting.

I had my RNY almost 4 years ago and lost a total of about 135-40lbs. I regained close to 40lbs on my own before getting pregnant (in a span of a little over 2 years), so this extra added weight from pregnancy has been extra hard on me. Hang in there and as long as you're eating healthy and not overindulging, just remind yourself there is a baby in there!!

Fort Hood I see....ohhhh boy! I spent a year there and it was a year too long I have to admit!! LOL I'm so glad not to be there anymore!

I've gained 30 pounds since October 18, but before that, I hadn't gained anything. It sucks because we've been in weight loss mode for so long, it's easy to feel like we're sabotaging our efforts and failing ourselves. I'm hoping to God that I don't gain much more than I have (although I'm estimating that I'll gain between 40-50). I hope some of it comes off within a few weeks of delivery.

Is i****er weight? Have they tested you for PIH or anything? How is your bp? I never had much of a problem losing after my first two so I hope I can lose it again easily this time, but your right, we were in weight loss mode and it feels like failing. I am trying to think positive and some days the hormones let me think happy thoughts and some days they make me want to cry. LOL.

My OB said a lot of it is likely water weight. My BP has stayed constant at 120/70 for the entire pregnancy. My next appointment is a week from Monday. I also have the Lap-Band, and I had to have half of my fill taken out... so I'm sure that has something to do with it, because I can eat and drink a lot more than I did for the first 6 months. The baby has also grown... I didn't even show until I was about 26 weeks, and now my bump is pretty big.

Kerri, I am not at Hood anymore. HATED it! Hated Killeen! LOL. So glad to be out of there. Well, that is great that you lost that much to begin with. I lost 100lbs and that was it. I was really bummed to have not lost more, which people think I am crazy for saying and that I should be thankful, but I got down to 160. I was hoping to get down more than that. I never did. I think the hormones before my period that enabled me to eat w/o restrictions, held me from losing as much as I wanted to. My hormones were the problem to begin with...that is what led to WLS, the hormones every month that made me eat and eat and eat. I was not an obese child, my family is not full of obese people, they are all thin. My mom was 92lbs when she got married. But I had hormones that were whacked and every period made me gain weight. After surgery, after about 6 months, I was able to find that I could eat more during that time as well. Now being prego, same thing. It is so hard for me to deal with. I am so thankful that I am starting to get food restrictions again. After the baby I hope I can lose it all. Do you find that when your not pregnant, even 2 years out, you have trouble eating or can you eat anything? Good luck to you! We are pretty much on the same page! LOL.

You and me both!! :) My biggest ***** about that place was the people driving!! No one there knew how to drive I swear it HAHAHA Way too many people from way too many places!

As for the eating...I think my biggest problem with weight regain was that I met my husband online when I was still in the loosing process. He returned from Iraq in January of 2008, which is when I move to Killeen to be with him. I quickly got comfortable, left my trainer in PA, and didn't have the support from family. Another thing was that I let myself become a little too familiar with wine!! I wouldn't say I was an alcoholic, but I drank more than most people should. As for the eating- I think my restrictions really kind of stopped after about 2 years. I could eat (and still can) usually eat ANYTHING I wanted to and almost never feel full. I'm a habitual dieter of course so my weight yo-yos...I blame the South Beach Diet for my pregnancy too hahaha! I went on the diet, lost almost 25lbs in about 3 weeks and then BAM BFP!!! It was a TOTAL shock. I also had the same problem you're talking about with the period..a week before I always knew it was coming (IF it was coming, because I would EAT everything in site and pick ALL day NON stop! I hated it!

Since I found out I was pregnant, I can't figure it out but my biggest weakness is fast food...especially french fries and burgers...and after surgery even up and until the 3rd year I really hardly ever ate fast food. It tasted nasty to me and was in NO way appealing, but now I am TRYING desperately to stay at far away from the fast food places because I do not want to gain anymore than I really have. The holidays are killing me too because my grandmother keeps sending me cookies and I know I won't be able to resist all the yummy food that's coming next week :)

I must say I hated Killeen for the way people drive as well, but mainly the overall character of the people. Nobody was friendly and everyone hated military. The crime was terrible too. I felt like I was living in the ghetto and we had a new house. It was bad.
I know what you mean about eating all day. I am trying so hard to focus on eating better! I do not want to gain any more than I have. I think we can lose weight, still, this far into it if we focus. I have heard it is hard to stretch the pouch out, so I am going to really try hard from here on out to eat healthy and then after the baby to lose. Cookies may not be great, but in moderation I think it can be ok. I am lucky - I do not live near fast food places! My nearest is 20 miles. I live in the boonies. hahhaha.
