I had one 10 years ago. It will be hard, but seriously, do not pick up anything heavier than a half gallon of milk. Wear that velcro contraption they give you, it does help the swelling and keep things where they need to be (even at night). Don't be afraid to ask for a refill of the vicodins or whatever they give you. You might want sleeping aids the first few nights since you will be uncomfortable with everything healing. I remember one night I slept in the recliner in the living room, I remember they did not want me to lay flat for a few days. Good luck!

I TOTALLY agree with the PP! When the doctor says to rest, totally rest. I didnt listen and ended up wtih drainage tubes for FOREVER because of all the swelling I caused. At least for the first week, really ask for help when you need it, and I would advise you to try to take a stool softner because that was rather uncomforatble for the first time. Good luck!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

I had my TT back in March when Alex was 6 months old. Do you have someone who is going to help you lift him for the next month? I wasn't allowed to lift more than 10 lbs for 4 weeks. Thankfully my mom came and stayed with us for a month while I healed.

Definitely wear the wrap around the clock... even if its uncomfy. If it gets really bothersome put a tank top on first and then wrap yourself. Also, definitely rest rest rest.

I had my hernia repair & TT 12/4/09 my baby was 13 months old.  If my mom wasn't here I would have been done for!  Like the PP's said, take it easy, take your meds and wear the girdle.  Blessings to you!! I felt like the plastics were the final step in my weightloss journey and motivate me to maintain and continue to take care of myself for my little ones!!
