True Confessions of a 23 week Sugar/Salt/Fat Binge
OK! I'm 23 weeks today! Baby is kicking and yesterday was my first day of clean eating for a loooong time! ![Kicking](http://images.lowcarbfriends.com/lcf/bbs/images/smilies/kicking.gif)
Yesterday is a blur of pickles, cheddar, eggs, beef jerky, raw almonds, steamed kale, avocado, splenda'ed ricotta, and for dinner chicken taco soup (Not real low carb but highly nutritious and fiber rich) I drank lots and lots of water.
I feel MUCH better being off of the following foods (I'll list them here) which I had been eating on a regular basis for my whole pregnancy. Yes, most of this kind of behavior might be considered severely disordered for someone who has gone under the knife for gastric bypass surgery and then risking life for skin removal surgeries. It just goes to show you how truly addicting the evil combination of foods containing carbs, sugar, fat and salt can be. The worst thing is that most of the foods were consumed in secret usually in my vehicle or hidden at home.
I'm now free from:
Taco Bell Bean Burritos w/4 mild sauces(eaten almost daily)
Starbucks Bacon Sandwiches (daily)
Skinny Cow Ice Cream sandwiches (Whole package in 2 days)
Tons of Quaker Oatmeal squares
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Pop-Tarts (omg!)
Tortillas nuked with lots of cheese
Hot Pockets
Halloween candy, ect...
Whew! I feel better coming clean about all of this but feel even more VICTORIOUS to be OFF of these foods and starting fresh!
My goal with this thread and my "coming out" of sorts is to return to controlled eating and to kill my cravings. Therefor, I did not restrict fats or calories yesterday. Only changed my habits and detoxed from sugar. I do have a dull headache now. But will stick with it until it passes and I'm able to re-incorporate a controlled diet of healthy carbs and nutritious foods that baby needs!
My guilt and shame with this type of eating have nothing really to do with weight gain. It mostly stems from secret eating and a sort of binging I was doing. The sudden weight gain was just a symptom of a really big problem. Being under control, I will gain weight anyway but on nutritious foods not junk.
New Plan is to incorporate more lean proteins, leafy greens, steel cut oats, fruits, ect and stay OFF the junk!

Finally Fit, after reading this you have inspired me to come clean and I too will start a new day tomorrow, with fresh veggies, lean proteins and good carbs. Here's a list of my daily sins (but not all consumed in one day:
M&M peanut
KFC (1 piece drumstick, 1/2 biscuit and 1/2 a small mash and gravy)
Spaghetti with italian sausage
Chocolate donuts (Hostess - about 3 small ones in one sitting)
Hotdog with chili and cheese on it
Doritos
1/2 of a Sausage Egg and Cheese McGriddle
Whopper Jr with Cheese, no pickles
French Fries
Okay, okay, so I've been REALLY bad too, but I'm coming clean and I promise for me and the baby I'll drop these bad habits. I'm joining FinallyFit on a crusade for CHANGE starting tomorrow :)

Oh yay! That's awesome. I've also indulged in a lot of donut holes on Sundays at church! LOL! What are we thinking? My former self would slap me now. As a preop I would have never accepted the thought of this destructive eating, even in pregnancy.
It's such a crazy midset that I'vd fallen into with pregnancy. BUT...MOVING FORWARD~~~
Yesterday was a SouthBeach diet phase 2 type of day. Today's been clean too. No ketosis, no severe restriction. Just being mindful of NO JUNK! Apples, yes. Pop Tarts, heck no, lol
We're having a girl too!

Ya after going to my 24 week appointment today and being told I managed to gain 7lbs in one month...for a total of 15lbs altogether...however, I have fallen victim to the eating of BASD things and I'm vowing to trun it around!! I have to admit that this was also my entire first month of no smoking (now in my 7th week), so I was expecting to see a gain on the scale, but was hoping it wasn't quite that much!!
My list of bad foods include:
Totino's Pizza Rolls (my crutch at times- seems like EVERY day)
McDonald's french fries and Angus burgers (like once a week or week and a half)
BBQ sauce- can I get a side of fries with that? LOL
Ham, egg, and cheese sandwiches- for breakfast almost daily since I could stomach eggs again
Tamales
Chocolate (Dove caramel to be exact)
After sitting here thinking about it, I really haven't had foods that were "horrible" but I think my biggest problem is the amount of food I've been able to eat recently.
My main goal is to kick my own butt back into gear with my 5 days a week at least of walking for 30-30 or doing 20-30 minutes on the elliptical machine. I was feeling super guilty tonight, so I opted for sliced cucumbers and a 5oz peice of chicken breast for dinner. I'm riding my house of sweets and everything else that I don't really "need" and trying to get back on track. I'm ok with gaining a little bit of weight, but I don't want to gain anymore than 10-15 more pounds throughout my pregnancy!
Oh and can't forget to mention that I drink entirely way to much diet caffeine free soda!!! UGH! I'm trying to reup the water and cut back on the sodas!

I feel assured that I am not alone now! Thanks so much! I started on the carbs as soon as I got my BFP, and I am trying hard to limit them now that I am almost 28 weeks and I gained A LOT of wight so far, and I am worried about that, so my subconsciousness is to not eat the carbs, but it is hard. My things (slowly getting rid of them)
Baked potato (almost every night for a 2 week span)
Bean burritos with extra cheese and red sauce (more of a Del Taco type girl)
Halloween Candy too!
potato chips (lays baked)
tootsie rolls
I am a KFC junkie as well, but I never get past the biscuit with brown gravy. with like 2 or 3 pieces of popcorn chicken.
any kind of potato really!
Oh and my personal splurge is Cheesecake!
I am more doing a protein shake for breakfast now but try to limit the artificial sweeteners the rest of the day. I keep saying that I would rather eat real sugars and not give the other stuff to the baby!

Whoo~Hoo!!!
Confessions are great for the soul as well as a fresh start!
Sugars and simple carbs are so addicting anytime, especially in pregnancy. I'm totally abstaining now.
There can't be a remarriage (adapting healthy ways) with out a divorce (from unhealthy eating)
Thanks for understanding guys. On other pregnancy related sites eveyone is talking about indulging in breakfast burritos at midnight, green tea ice cream, ect, ect. When you speak up about trying to eat healthy sometimes people jump on you for "dieting during pregnancy" and how it's harmful. Pffft! They haven't been where we are! Ya know??

well, I'm knocking on for 8 weeks and have been seeig the carb monster rising his head too!! - mine has been pizza - I don't think I've gained weight yet, but did half a donut today.
the stuff that would normally make me unwell, like donuts, are being tolerated by my pouch - no dumping. What's up with that ladies????
I love this forum by the way - love the honesty and warmth![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/grouphuddle.gif)
