Had my shower on Saturday...
I really couldn't have asked for a nicer day! We had a co-ed shower, so my husband, my dad, my uncle, and a bunch of our buddies were there. It was so much fun! We had catered BBQ... pork ribs, red potato salad, pineapple coleslaw, baked beans, garlic bread, and beer/soda/iced tea. The weather was 80 degrees and perfect... we had it at my parents' house in their backyard by the pool.
My mom really did a great job decorating. It wasn't too frilly/girly because she knew guys would be there, lol. But she strung up a clothesline with an "It's a Girl" banner, and adorned it with little socks, booties, onesies, etc, and tied it with curly pink ribbons at each end. Super cute. She also had little pink and white cyclamen flowers in little pots on each table, and she stuck floral arrangement butterflies in each one.
We played 4 games: Guess how many Skittles are in the baby bottle; Baby word unscramble; Guess the baby food (only by looking at the jars, not by smell or taste); and Baby bottle "Hot Potato".
The hot potato game was fun... it was kind of a variation of the "bottle chug" game, only I had everyone stand in a circle and I put two bottles at opposite ends of the circle. When the music started, everyone passed the bottle to the right. When the music stopped, the two people holding the bottles had to race against each other to chug the bottle down. It ended up being my mom versus one of our guy friends, so it was hilarious!
As far as the gifts go... we got a lot of really nice ones! My aunt gave me our stroller/carseat travel system. My sister-in-law's mom made me a BEAUTIFUL handmade quilt for the crib.
We also got the extra base for our car seat, a boppy pillow and extra slipcover, a microwave bottle sterilizer, a couple of crib toys, some receiving blankets, and a whole bunch of cute outfits. My friend also made me a baby sling out of some sarong-type material (she sells them) and a "flower" bouquet where the flowers are made out of socks, hats, onesies, washcloths, etc. Oh, and my husband gave me a dozen orange roses (my favorite!)
I don't have any pictures to post yet because one of my girlfriends was in charge of that job, and she hasn't Emailed them to me yet. So, hopefully soon.![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/smile.gif)
It started at 1pm and most people left by 5... but we had a few friends stay late and we watched the hockey game and they had beer and did shots, LOL. It was a good day!

Okay Mandy, the first paragraph got me really hungry!!!!! LOL.. Sounds like it was a perfect day :) Well that little princess will be here before you know it and I'm glad to hear that family and friends helped make that celebration a wonderful one for you. Great games, mind of I steal a few of those? Sounds like fun and my shower will be in Jan. Can't wait to see the pics.

Seriously, the food was fantastic. The meat on those ribs fell right off the bone! By all means, please steal the games.
They were really fun, and I always have a hard time trying to decide what games to play that aren't too "lame." LOL
I'm having another shower in January, too. That one will be "for the girls" and it will be more traditional.

Sounds like your shower was a wonderful time!! I'm not going to have a shower because of my living out of state from my main family (mom & dad) and all my friends. I have family here, but I honestly would rather not even have a shower because then it will be a guilt trip as to who I owe something to...so no thanks! I'm really sad about not being able to have an official shower, but the day after Christmas, my mom's invited a few friends and family to her house as kind of like a pseudo shower, where we can get together, catch up and if the girls would like to give me any gifts for the baby they can feel free- of course all of my close friends from home remind me almost daily of how they are accumlating items for him as we speak lol
