Moms of older babies, nap question...

When did your little one transition to one nap? Matty seems to be on a one nap per day schedual, but I just don't know if he is really ready for it.

What does/did your schedual look like with a 14 month old?

Right now this is what we look like, and I feel that sometimes he is cranky b/c he is not sleeping enough, but I don't know how to change it without forcing him to bed (which just frustrates all of us) -

8 AM up
1 PM  down for nap until about 3:30
9:30 PM down for the night
1:30 AM up to nurse, then down for the rest of the night

My daughter napped twice at that age I think they need 14 to 16 hours of sleep (double check). She is 4.5 years old now and naps once.
Wake up at 5:45 am
Nap at Noon till 2pm
Sleep at 7:30

But when she was younger she napped at 9 or 10 then again in the afternoon, until she was about 2.5 years old.

Thanks!  I am going to try and nudge him towards a two nap schedual, I hope it goes smoother then the other things I try to nudge him towards LOL He is a very stubborn little boy (takes after his mama!).

MY EXPERIENCE with my now 3 year old Tyler he use to Nap twice a day when he was 1-2 years old for 1.5 hour intervals and would sleep about 10 hours at night. When he turned 3 he now sleeps about 1.5 to 2 hours after lunch (per the Daycare) and he gets to sleep about 8:30pm and wakes up between 6:00 - 6:30am.

Read this online:

1-3 Years Old: 12 - 14 hours per day

As your child moves past the first year toward 18-21 months of age he will likely lose his morning nap and nap only once a day. While toddlers need up to 14 hours a day of sleep, they typically get only about 10.

Most children from about 21 to 36 months of age still need one nap a day, which may range from one to three and a half hours long. They typically go to bed between 7 and 9 p.m. and wake up between 6 and 8 a.m.

Man you guys are lucky with your children napping. My son just turned 4 and he has not napped since he was about 2.5. He is in bed about 8'ish and up between 7 and 8. I wish he napped, sometimes (rarely) he will nap but then bedtime becomes a nightmare.

Micah is 12 months and sleeping from 8pm to 6:30 or 7:00am...and then usually takes a 1/2 hour nap at about 11 and maybe an hour or so at 2pm. A lot of times he skips the first nap though. He still gets a bottle once a night and has been waking 3-4 times lately...teeth. Makes for one tired mama...lol

Emma is almost 3 and if we are at home and not running errands I have her 'rest' in bed from 3-4. She is allowed to read books. 1/2 the time she sleeps 1/2 the time not. If she does sleep it is for 1.5 to 2 hours.

Ugh, you don't have to tell me about the teeth thing! We went from a pretty good night schedual to a literal nightmare since his eye teeth started coming in. Sometimes nights are great, but most times he is up three or four times and NOTHING soothes him.
