First off congratulations!

On another pregnancy forum I belong to...it has been stated a few times that doctor's have reccomended "two adult gummie vitamins" to women who can't "stomach" the pre-natal vitamins...it is suppossed to have the same amount of nutrients...so you might consider taking these...just a suggestion!

Oh dear god, no.  NO.  Please don't do that.  Find a good prenatal vitamin.  Call your doc if you can't tolerate it.  Better to be nauseated & have good labs than to have a happy tummy & be deficient.  Phenergan & Zofran are both safe for pregnancy.  Sometimes I have to take those to tolerate my vitamins, but hey, it works.

Gummie vitamins are about as nutritionally sound as gummy bears.  Vitamin FAIL.

Or have a baby with severe nutritional deficiencies...

Which, yes, is a SEVERE problem, especially with vitamin D.

Not if one wants to come out of pregnancy with:

1) healthy mom
2) healthy baby

Especially in us where we are already unable to take gummy vitamins and get any sort of nutrition from them.

take prenatal and folic acid...or if you are already taking your vitamins just up it one. Make sure you get enough iron and folic acid...oh and up your calcium one too and make sure PROTEIN...my dr recommended me upto 60grams-80.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

OH and here is a big one, go see your bariatric surgeon and have him/her draft a letter to your baby dr your using to tell them what you need to do as a bariatric patient, what test to run for blood levels etc. what they recommend to you for nutrition.

I like the suggestion to have the doctors correspond.  I was lucky enough with my 1st to have a ARNP who is also a post-op.  Too bad I'm no longer a patient of theirs :(

Been there, done that, ended up with horrible nutritional stats afterwards.  I was lucky, though, that my babies did not suffer.  They easily could have.

With that said -

Make sure you are getting carbs.  100g a day minimum.
Make sure you are getting fluids.  64oz a day minimum.  You'll thank me for this eventually.
Make sure you are taking your vitamins.  The ASMBS standards don't change for pregnancy.

Here are lab lists that you need to get at your first appointment and every 8 weeks after to help tweak your vitamins.  Be sure you are taking 2 multivites, 2000mg of calcium citrate, a b-complex with thiamin (puking drops thiamin quickly and thiamin is vital for neurological function), at least 10,000 IU of vitamin D in dry form if not more based on D and PTH levels, 500mcg of B12 if not taking shots, and at least 50mg of iron a day (I suggest carbonyl as we don't absorb ferrous forms of iron well in an achlorhydriac environment):

Baseline labs:
CBC w/ diff
CMP
TTR (prealbumin)
Magnesium, Serum
Iron profile
Ferritin
Zinc RBC
Vitamin A
Vitamin D, 25-hydroxy
Vitamin B1, whole blood
Vitamin B6, plasma
Folate, RBC
Vitamin B12
Intact PTH
MMA, Serum
Vitamin E
Copper
HGB A1c

8weeks:
CBC w/diff
CMP
TTR
Iron Profile
Ferritin
Vitamin D, 25-hydroxy
Vitamin B1, whole blood
Folate, RBC
Vitamin B12
Intact PTH
MMA, Serum
Plus any other problems notated with the baseline
