Flu Shot???
I got mine and I have for many years simply because I work in a nursing home and my daughter has cystic fibrosis and I have to think of her. This year my arm was pretty sore after the shot but I had no other issues. I guess being in the medical field I see things...like I never thought I would know anyone who got the West Nile Virus...but we admitted a young 60 year old 3 years ago who got it by a mosquito and he was pretty severly disabled from it. So I just figure better safe than sorry..but my husband refuses it every year, so you should really make it your own personal chioce..not let others or the doctor make it for you!!

Thanks Girls! I was beginning to think I was being selfish or acting like a bad Mom because I refused one yesterday at my OB office. I haven't had one in a long time and I'm not sure if I want one any time soon now. I also have a three year old son and his Pediatrician asked me to get him one also. I told her no thanks. He's homeschooled though so maybe I will change my mind if I decided to send him to private or public school down the road. Thanks again!
I had never had the flu shot up until last year. I figured if I got the flu, I got it and I'd rather chance it than get the shot.
Well last year, I got the SWINE flu when I was about 4 months pregnant and it was PURE HELL for about 2 weeks!!!!! For the first 3 days, I could not get out of bed and had a constant fever of 101 degrees that would not go away. I felt like DEATH and don't ever remember being that sick- EVER. I took Tylenol and it only took the temp down to 99 sometimes. Then from days 4-10 I felt pretty sick and still was bed bound for the most part. I had to have my hubby take like a day or two off work because I couldn't even take care of my 2 children (ages 7 and 3 at the time) and then I had to have my Mom come over on a day my hubby had to go into work and I felt so sick. Plus, I was pregnant and having morning sickness off and on, so that didn't help.
Finally by about 10 days out, I felt 90% better, but it too****il about 2 weeks out that I felt better. I went in to see my ob/gyn when I had symptoms at about 2 days out and took Tamiflu, but I still felt awful for a long time.
After that horrible experience, I got a flu shot last Nov, along with my hubby and 2 kids. And this year, I had my hubby, my 7 yr old, 4 yr old, and 7 month old baby get it. It was a NIGHTMARE having the flu last year for me and I'd rather get the flu shot than go through that again. Plus, I don't want my tiny little man getting it and it's pretty serious if a baby gets it and can be fatal. I plan on getting it every year, having the flu was awful and once you get the flu like that, you don't EVER want to get it again!!!
So it's really up to you, you can chance it and not get the shot if you don't feel comfortable getting it. I've been fine and my family has been fine getting it and we don't get sick from it. GL!
