Baby Gage is here!!
Gage Lee E. was born at 4:14 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd. He weighed 7 pounds and was 20 1/4 inches long. Here is my birth story:
I wanted to work Monday the 1st to get pay roll and feedbills out. After that, I was going to be ready to go at any time. My boss's mom said to try homemade ice cream if you were near or past your delivery date. She had 11 children, so she should know!! Anyway, my boss made us homemade ice cream for lunch Monday. I worked until 6:00 p.m. and thanked her for the yummy ice cream, although I didn't feel any different than any other day.
I went home and cooked, cleaned and ate, just like any other routine night. I went to bed around 9:30 p.m. because I was tired. My husband was snoring so loudly I went to the couch at 11:45 p.m. About midnight, I started feeling contractions, although I didn't recognize them for what they were. After it sank in, I started timing the contractions. They were about every 5 minutes for one minute long. I assumed I was just starting labor and it was probably going to be a long night.
Around 2:00 a.m. I was having some serious pain and was scared. I thought I had to go to the bathroom and there were some pretty good sized clots in there. I woke my husband up and told him to the hospital to see if that was normal and if we needed to go in yet. They said it was up to us. My husband was a little nervous and didn't like the yelling and crying I was doing, so he said we should go. It's a 40 mile drive and my contractions were coming about every 2-3 minutes. We got admitted to my room at 3:20 a.m. I was dialated to 9 cm already. The nurse asked me if I had wanted an epidural. I said I had planned to try without, she said good - it's too late anyway! Gage was born at 4:14 a.m. I didn't have any episiotomy or tear either.
The doctor broke my water, it never happened on its own. Everything we learned at prenatal classes went right out the window. LOL My husband tried to get me breathe like we learned in class and I told him to shut up, it hurts!! LOL All the lollipops, focal point picture, soothing music, etc. were just wasted space in my suitcases. Didn't need any of that!! No time.
I had my tubal ligation surgery about 6 hours later. So, this is my first and last baby. And he's a keeper!!
I posted a couple pictures to my profile. I can't figure out how to get them here. Never can...

Thanks and again Congrats!
Anyway, your situation sounds a lot like mine. First and last for me, a little boy, husband had three daughters from a previous marriage...
I had my tubes tied about 6 hours after Gage was born. With it being so soon after the delivery they didn't have to fill my abdomen with gas. As far as recovery, that helps a lot. If you've had any laproscopic surgery, you know how bad that gas hurts as it's coming up out of your body! The only cut I had was a small one in my belly button. My hospital stay was the same as anyone who gave birth (2 days). If I hadn't delivered a baby, I would've gone home the same day as the tubal procedure.
Best wishes,
Kina

LOL kind of ironic how our stories are a lot alike!?
Thanks for answering those few questions. I definitely remember the horrific gas pains from the laproscopic procedures. Hearing that info puts my mind at ease. I was starting to wonder more and more about it because I told hubby I wasn't going to 100% commit to the procedure unless I knew we were having a boy- and that's been confirmed. I've researched some info online, but nothing compares to firsthand knowledge.
Thanks again! I can't wait to be holding my little guy in a few months! :)
