Has anyone taken Prometrium to induce a period?
Hey there...I haven't taken Prometrium per say, but I have taken Provera numerous times now to induce my period before. It's a progesterone hormone medicine. I usually would get a period about 2-4 days after completing a 7 day cycle of Provera- at the latest (sometimes it didn't take a full 7 day regiment to start, but everyone's systems are different of course.). I will warn you that whenever I did get my period it had a tendency to be rather heavy after taking the progesterone pill, especially if it had been a few months after I hadn't had a cycle. And I don't say this to alarm you, but be aware that it can cause a little bit heavier cramping. My doctor let me know this before she put me on it because I wouldn't have terrible cramping if I got my period without medications and it always concerned me. She explained to me that taking the progesterone hormone is essentially clearing the lining of your uterus and any of the dead cells, tissue or old blood that's accumulated from back to back missed periods in your reproductive system and can cause the heavier bleeding and cramping.
Best of luck with the clomid and ttc! Hope this helps ya and baby dust headed your way :)

Thank you Kerri. I have taken Provera a few times before as well. I am not really worried about my period being heavy this time around since my LMP was only on September 12th. It will obviously be more uncomfortable than normal but not as bad as it could be. And hopefully the Clomid works the first time around... :)
