I must be nuts..

That is what everyone keeps telling me when they find out I am expecting again. "You must be nuts" or "Trying to catch up to the Duggars?"

Granted, four is a lot. I freaked when I found out I was pregnant, and I have had many crying spells in panic lately. Worried that I won't be able to manage. My oldest is special needs, my five year old is an angel in school and demolition man at home, and my 20 month old thinks the terrible twos are going to be loads of fun. So yes, I worry sometimes am I nuts  (especially with the dreams of twins I have had every night for a week)

But is 4 really THAT crazy? I mean....to compare me to a woman with 19 children? Is that really accurate?

Are there any moms here with 3 or more that can let me know I am not crazy, I can do this, and it will be ok? Sometimes I just need a little reassurance....

Hey there! I TOTALLY feel your pain! I am raising 3 stepdaughters (11, 9 and 7) while expecting my first biological child in March. Not to mention it's quite the mix- the oldest isn't biologically mine or my husband's but he fought and won guardianship of her.

My family seemed to have a similar reaction- well, my mom's side of the family- my dad's side (who I was brought up around and have known my struggles with infertility and the desire to want my own child) on the other hand was super supportive. My family here has pulled away and went as far as to tell my mother that I was on fertility drugs when we got preggo. I never have been or had the opportunity to try fertility drugs. I at one time was on a low dose of Metformin, but that was with my Gyn's guidance in order to try to regulate my hormones and bring on regular period cycles- NOT to have children.

My husband and I are in no where near the ideal financial situation that suits us best, but we do everything that we can. People have asked me how I'm going to handle it and to that I just say- "we'll adjust!" We're a family and if 4 children seems like a lot to some- well, so be it! I'm happy and couldn't be more excited and we will do what we always do- adapt and overcome the obstacle together.

Hugs! You're not crazy and so what if you're having 4 children- it's your life! Live it how you see fit!! :)

We have 5...People tell me all the time that we're crazy. But really, one more isn't any more work than the others. The hardest is going from 1 to 2. Anything after that is easy! I just ignore the people that say anything. They aren't in your situation so it's not any of their business, really.  We haven't been in the most ideal financial situation either (Honestly, most people aren't), but we make it work. I always tell people "You do what you have to".

I know a 26yr old who has 4 kids by 4 "baby daddies". It could always be worse...
I just love when people feel free to critique your parenting. As long as you are not living in a tent, or feeding them from food banks every week, then they should MTOB. Or tell them since they are so concerned, they can feel free to come over and help anytime. Do you have any help with your oldest? My daughter is 12 and has Aspergers Syndrome, and I have respite workers here 4 days a week, working with her. Thank goodness.

Some people love children and it's no "biggie".  Some people have them and don't like them and that is bad.  My Mom had 9 children - she loved children - no problem!  Her Mom had many too - no problem.  They both took care of  their grands.  My sis had 2 - she did the job but didn't like it and she had a third to give her husband a boy -crazy!  We did lots of the care taking - I was 12 when my oldest niece was born.  All 3 of her kids have issues!

If you like children and can care for them in every way - including financially then why not!

All the best to you!

They must be jealous! I have 2 boys and another boy on the way. I love my kids! If I could afford more, I would probably have more. I just love kids and I love babies! My friend down the street is only 24 and is on her 4th boy. Does it matter how many kids you have? Babies are wonderful & exciting! Congrats to you!

I can completely relate to what your saying...  I am just 7 weeks now and go through so many different emotions.. One minute I feel happy and find myself looking at baby stuff.. The next I am furious and looking at abortion stuff on the internet...  I am so mixed up right now I can't stand it.... This is kid number 4 for me but my 5th pregnancy.

I lot of people just don't think before they talk.  Don't let it bother you.  You are SO blessed!  I always wanted five children but that's not going to happen for us and that's ok.  We're very blessed to have one and one on the way after having lost three in between them.  I don't think 4 is a lot, at all!  Congrats!
And you can do this!  You're an awesome mom already and you're going to continue to rock the job as a mom of four!
