How many calories are we supposed to take in as pregnant post-ops??
I am 3 months pregnant and I don't feel I look pregnant. I definitely FEEL pregnant, but it seems so silly to others I'm sure.
When did your bump start to appear?
I have alot of loose saggy skin, and am wondering if it's hidden somewhere under there? lol.
My most recent photo was from Halloween..I made my costume about 4 weeks ago and was thinking it wouldn't fit by the time Halloween came..but NOTHING. It fit fine? It's my first...so I have no idea if this is normal..I've already had to check into the ER the first month and was told during the entire 6 hour wait by several different people I probably miscarried, only to see the heartbeat on the ultrasound later that evening. It was a threatened miscarriage.
I've since had two other ultrasounds, so don't think there's any problems with the baby..maybe I'm not eating enough? How do you find the balance of being healthy and still gaining? This is such a strange concept. If I eat healthy, there's no way to take in the doc's recommended 2300 calories. I did 1300 calories/day pre-pregnancy..and now push 1500-1700 calories/day. What do you ladies take in calorie-wise? Are we supposed to take in the same as what "normal" people take in daily?

Since you had RNY, I think 1700 is a good number. You are also not that far along, so you don't need a bunch of extra calories yet. If you don't think you are getting enough, maybe throw in an extra protien shake daily. Be careful to include carbs in your diet, since protien-only diets are bad for baby.
Make sure you mention to your OBGYN that you are a gastric bypass patient, and would like some extra monitoring of the baby's growth. They may do more ultasounds to be cautious. Also, be sure to have you vitamin labs checked a few times during your pregnancy. A full panel is like 15 tubes of blood.
Good luck!

Wow, what is it like for you this early out with the sleeve? What are you able to eat? I hear the restriction is very tight for at least the first 6 months to a year. I am revising to an experimental sleeve and I was thinking about what would happen if I had an "oops" early out. I don't have much weight to lose, but I would think the restriction may be an issue.
Any info I would appreciate.
Best,
Leila

Anyone who has DS or RNY has to take in extra calories only because of their malabsorbtion issues. Since you had the sleeve, you should be fine. But, if anyone is having a problem with too much restriction and unborn babies measuring on the small side, it is as easy as adding a protien shake (or 2). They even have out EAS Myoplex now, which I believe hase extra fat and calories (designed for hard-core athletes). And, don't forget the fruits, even if you have to make a smoothie or something.
Slurp away :)

Some days are better than others as far as restriction goes.. Eating an entire yogurt in one sitting is a challenge most of the time. I have added in fruits and some carbs since finding out about my little "suprise"... I have really really been craving fresh fruits.. Pineapple mostly.. I'll add a few chunks of pineapple to my cottage cheese or for a snack i'll have about half a banana... It's difficult but I have a few more lbs to lose anyway so I figure as long as I get in my vitamins the baby will get everything else from my stroed fat...
