Getting Pregnan?

Good Morning,
I had gastric bypass March 2010, have lost 107 pounds and I am 44 years old.  I have done inseminations, 2 failed IVF's and we are now considering another try since I have lost the weight. 
I have a call into my surgeon regarding the wait time but I wanted to ask here also.
How long did your surgeon recommend you wait after weight loss surgery to get pregnant?  I know that my surgeon does take into consideration age, how much weight loss and how much more you are likely to lose.  I am at goal weight now.
Thanks for any tips/advice you have.  I know that he can not get back to me right away as he is in the OR today so...well you know we need answers right away =)

I would say if you're at goal weight then go for it....just my opinion...I'm 6 years out and never reached goal weight and am just now pregnant with my first child. I'm sure there are many opinions on this but since you've reached your ideal weight I don't see why there would be a reason to wait any longer.

 I had surgery towards the end of January 2010, and have lost aprox. 115 lbs only 5 lbs away from goal weight.  I asked my surgeon at 6 months out and he was totally ok with us TTC.  I went of the pill that month never expected to get pregnant right away but we did.  I wish you the best of luck and hope your surgeon gives you the okay.

It has to do more with being stable in your weight loss. Dr's don't want us in ketosis while pregnant because its not good for the baby. If your weight has been stable for awhile (I believe 6 months- someone help me here please?) then you should be good to go!
