FRIDAY TTC POST (who is making a baby?)

Eleni~ How did the apt go?? What is the plan of action?? Exited for this next step for you guys. You know few of the girls here talk about dh and their part of the journey...but you remind me a lot of myself. I am glad you talk about your feelings and his...that is what this post is for.
Candace~ Would you like me to add you to the list? Welcome! I also had wls for infertility and comorbids. I now have 2 beautiful babies. I would recommend the opk's for sure. You can buy cheap ones on ebay. A lot of times those app's aren't accurate. For example... on a 28 day cycle a doctor would tell you that you text book o on cycle day 14. But a woman****eal phase (time from o to period) varies from woman to woman. Your lp can be anywhere from 10-16 days...so that would make a 28 day cycle possible to o on cd 12-18. Those opk's can really narrow your baby dancing window. As for the ob. Because you tried for 2 years before they will probably run some tests...but don't get too disappointed if they want you to try a little longer now that your cycles are regular and you are healthy. The usual protocal is 6 months if you are over 35 and a year under 35. And I know how hard getting AF can be when you are ttc. Just remember there is just a 25% chance of conceiving each month and that is with everything working right for you and dh. That always helped me keep perspectives when I did get AF. And, once you pin point your o time it can really help your chances. Anyway, I talk a lot. Let me know if you have questions...and keep us posted on your journey.

Some common terms:
TTC - trying to conceive
BFP - big fat positive (positive pregnancy test)
BFN - big fat negative (negative pregnancy test)
CD - the day of your menstrual cycle
O - ovulation
DPO - days past ovulation
LP - luteal phase (time from ovulation to period)
AF - aunt flow ( your period)
PG - pregnant/pregnancy
MC - misscarriage
RE - reproductive endocrinologist
OPK - ovulation prediction kit
CL - coverline ( for those taking their temps to confirm ovulation)
Met - metformin or glucophage ( a diabetes medication sometimes taken to help hormone levels and ovulation)
BD - baby dancing ( having timed intercourse)
DTD - doing the deed
IUI - inter uterine insemination
IVF - in vitro fertilization
PCOS - polycystic ovarian syndrome
POAS - pee on a stick (taking a pregnancy test)
2WW - two week wait...time from ovulation until you can test for pg

Well I was fortunate enough to have an ultrasound of my ovaries yesterday (cd 11)...the tech knew I was trying to get pregnant...so while she was scanning...she said "well you have a really nice follicle on your right side....almost ready!" yahoo!
So even though my Opk was negative im bd'ing starting tonight.....gonna catch that nice big egg! I hope I "o" soon....

I would like to be added to the list, I had my Mirana out on Friday and the hubby comes home from work (he works away) tomorrow night so we will be doing the baby dance for the first time where we're not preventing results! I'm excited and scared, and the hubby is just excited! I have a 5 year old from a previous marriage that my current hubby claims is his but the baby we're working on now will be his first! Wish us luck! I will need all the advice, support, tips, and tricks that you gals have to offer!
