Low Lying Placenta

So I had my 20 week US yesterday and they confirmed that Ruby Marie is indeed a girl (first predicted at one of those 3d US places), she is right on track for her size and the US tech said she looks good. I will get the US medical interpretations from the doc later but the US tech also mentioned that it looks like I have a "low lying placenta."  I did some research on this and read that often times a low lying placenta resolves itself as the uterus grows it moves away from the cervix. It is not as bad as complete placenta previa where the cervix is completely covered and delivery must happen by c-section.

Anyone else here have this condition and how did it go for you?

I was told the same thing at my 20 week appt. My dr said he wanted to check again at 28 weeks and if it didn't move up on its own, we'd schedule a c-section. At my 28 week appt it was fine and had moved up. So it worked out for me. Needless worrying, but it worked out...

Hope it works out for you too. And congratulations on Ruby Marie!! (I SO wanted a a girl!!--But hubby is tickled to death!)

Best wishes
Kina

Grats on the girl! I love the name you picked out, too!

One of my twins had a low lying placenta, first diagnosed at 14 wks. By 28 wks it had moved into a more acceptable location for delivery. My OB says in the majority of cases, a low lying placenta will correct itself.

I wouldn't let it worry you, you're only 1/2 way to the "finish line". ^_^

I'm currently 28 weeks with a low lying placenta.  My doc wants it to be at least 2cm away from the Oz of my cervix and it's currently sitting at 1.6 so fingers crossed that it moves.  My placenta is also anterior.

Hope all is well.

I had a complete previa for most of the triplets pregnancy, but at about 29 weeks my uterus had streched enough that it had moved up and away from the cervix., if baby A hadn't doen a backflip at the last minutue I would have been have been able to have a natural vaginal birth.

Good luck!
