confused
My ped recommended putting some formula in the sippy. I do give my kiddos juice but its concentrated type...so it says make it with (I think its 2 or3 cans of water)...we mix it with 6 cans of water. We also limit it- because it is empty calories and sugar. Regular juice is a no no unless I water it down...and my kids both like ice water. Milk, with a tad of flavor. She'll let you know what she likes...LOL they all do. It took my youngest the longest time to get sippy...but my oldest never used a true sippy---she used a straw at 9 months because she could not figure out how to tip her little head back far enough. Have fun trying all the new big girl things with her.
My son will be 3 1/2 on Christmas day. Since I limit his juice intake I also buy the new Diet V8 fruit/veggie juice that is very low sugar. My Dad is a diabetic and he drinks it and loves it as well. Plus I know my son is getting more veggies in him which is hard to do with a toddler sometimes. I also water down the diet V8 juice, lasts longer and he doesn't know. He also loves to drin**** water. He's using a big boy cup mostly now, but we take sippy cups along for outdoor activities or trips outside of the house still. =)
thanks everyone. I am just so leary of giving her any un needed sugar and calories. I figure you ladies get it more than anyone since we've all had weight issues. All my family and friends think juice is just fine. I'd rather give her the fruit

There's lots of info on this topic online too that you can refer to!

I am with the others - she doesn't need juice! The exception would be if she gets constipated, because a little juice can work wonders then, but other than that, I'd skip it. My daughter gets a little here and there as a treat (she's 5) but it's never been a regular part of her diet and I'm glad. She is already a sturdy kid and I'm sure she'd be a lot heavier if she drank lots of calories. She just drinks milk and water most of the time.

I work in a day care....with infants and even though juice is on the menu, I NEVER give it to them unless the parents tell me they need it for constipation issues. They get milk or water! I care for 12 kids from 6 months to 16 months and they absolutely DON'T need juice! If I had my way with our menu, we'd get more fresh fruit, we seem to get a lot of canned fruit. I don't eat it and wish I didn't have to give it to them. The juice I don't have to, the fruit I do.
I do not care for juice either, would rather give my kid flavored water (vitamin water zero) instead if I couldn't get him to like regular water (I can't stand it plain). I have been a Nanny for many years and would water down juice as it frustrates me to see kids guzzling it straight non-stop all day.
