Switched to a Perionatologist
So I guess I am considered high risk because I have had the DS and I have Hashimoto's thyroid disease and mild anemia (due to the DS). I have been switched from a Midwife NP to a Perionatologist. I am a Kaiser patient. Any others have a similar experience?

I am only 13wks 5 dys but I too was switched to a different Doctor due to being considered "high risk"...I had RNY and am also anemic and on medication for depression. They considered me high risk mainly due to the surgery...
I know this wasn't much help but just sharing....

I went directly to a high risk. I asked also if there was a chance that I can still have a midwife, and the doctor told me that I am seeing him through the pregnancy but I may be allowed to have a natural birth with a midwife if my pregnancy goes well. I am in deed high risk because of my RNY, that a lot of times the some side effects of the surgery show up during pregnancy.
