I was just curious how long after surgery before everybody became pregnant?  i know it is recommended to wait 1 1/2- 2 years after surgery....but its just a curiousity question.   And if you got pregnant before that time did you have any complications?

I waited 16 months. My doc acutually cleared me at my one year apt. I really wanted to lose all my weight and be able to maintain for while. ( which I had so thats why she cleared me)

I was so worried about not losing baby weight.  I am 37 so time was not on my side but waited anyway.  Actually happy I did.

We weren't planning on having any more kids but I found out I was pregnant 9 months after VSG. HUGE surprise since I had an IUD placed 6 wks after my twins were born (they're now 19 months old).

So far this has been a very healthy pregnancy and baby is growing perfectly. I've only gained 2 lbs at 23 weeks.

you got pregnant with an IUD!! wow! i bet that was a HUGE surprise. we plan to have more kids in about a year. i have the Mirena right now.

I had RNY on 9/23/09 and we got pregnant 8 mths later.  Def were not planning on it kind of at all b/c DH did not know if he wanted kids or not.  I had talked to the GYN on April 23rd abt BC pills and options and he said my hormones were still too out of whack and that he preferred for me to wait and if it happens, it happens, well we got preggers on May 6th lol  Talk abt shocked at first!!   

I took a HPT at abt 10pm-bought a 3pk just in case lol and as soon as it hit the test there it was a BFP!  I asked the DH to double check and he read the whole insert with the tests and everything, so we decided to wait to get upset-which was a lil late for me lol and test the next morning as soon as I got up. 

Well the second test did not do right, it never said + or - so he said call the GYN and take a test there.  As soon as the RN dropped it on the test she said YEP congratulations, you are Pregnant.  I wanted to cry but mine were tears of joy b/c I have ALWAYS wanted a child(ren) and just thought it would never happen b/c of obesity and PCOS.  That was before mine and DH RNY!  Guess God had bigger and better plans for me!

Long story a lil shorter. We are expecting our Baby Girl Hannah Grace on Feb 10th 2011 and my DH is tickled to death and we have had a few bumps in the road like Hypoglycemia issues and some dehydration at the beginning but everything seems to smoothing out in the 2nd trimester.
