Insemination Date figured out!
Well... I'm in my last cycle before my insemination. I've really enjoyed the 6:30am basal temp taking for the past 4 months especially on the weekends (read sarcasm here). Being a lesbian couple, we reeeeeeally gotta time this thing so we can "get the goods" at the right time. Our donor lives about 30 mins away from us and is totally willing to dedicate our O days to just us (he donates to a few people.) No frozen goods for us. yay!
So... we'll be inseminating 11/14, 15, & 16. Wowie! TTC #1 and hopefully there will be no #2! We're soooooooooooo excited!
Just wanted to share the excitement!
BTW... have a question... for those of you that have done donor sperm, I've heard that it's best to use it within the first 30 minutes after he donates. I'm hoping that we could stretch that to an hour. Has anyone heard anything about that timing? We'd really like to inseminate at home.
Thanks!

Our donor comes over and hangs out for a bit, plays with the dogs, chats and stuff. Then he goes upstairs and does his thing. When he is done, he says good-bye and leaves. I put it in the syringe, remove the air and hold it wrapped in a paper towel in my hand until I'm ready for the syringe to be inserted. I'm sorry to those who think this may be TMI, but I'll answer anything!!!
Amazon.com sells sterile cups, I would suggest getting some of those! Sterile needle free syringes too!

I haven't used donor sperm, but having been through the infertility rungs, I know a bit about how this works.
An hour should be fine as long as you keep it at body temperature. Actually, an hour is usually better than just 10 minutes after, because it has time to liquify and thus easier to make it through the cervix.
Good luck.
