Could it be Post Partum depression?

The Whiner is back.....sorry ladies....  :(

I haven't stopped crying for about 4 days.  I truly believe that Anushka hates me and where we live......I have screamed, and I mean screamed, at everyone that doesn't do what I want them to do.  I was rude to the girl at Kroger yesterday.

I feel so lonely and overwhelmed.  And sad, I have a gorgeous, well tempered child why the heck am I sad.......

I feel like I am neglecting her because I can't do anything without crying so she has spent several hours in her swing.

I tried to get in with the dr, but there were no appointments available......

Thanks, as always, for listening!

Sure sounds like it to me!
call the doctor's ofice back, tell them you have PPD symtoms and you are very concerned. Speak to a nurse if you have to, not just the appointments person. They will likely FIND an appointment for you.

Anushka doesn't hate you. You're her favorite person in the whole world. Seriously.

It does sound like PPD from the way you describe your outbursts and mood swings. If your doctor's office is booked, call another dr. PPD is serious, don't ignore it. Find a doctor who will see you and really listen to you.

Is there another OB in your doctor's practice you can see?

Try you the office that you saw during your pregnancy, then your PCP, then your dtr's ped.  I know when I went to one of my dtr appointment the Ped noticed I wasnt myself...he mentioned it to me, and told me that he would help me get help if I needed it....he was right a LOT of offices dont make time for woman going through PPD.  Good luck- it certainly sounds like it could be the start of it...I cant remember how old Anshka is, but sometimes for the first month or so because the hormones are just crazy- its just the hormones regulating.  And as the other poster said- your little one doesnt hate you- you are her everything.

It sure sounds like it! Don't stop at the receptionist for an appointment, ask to speak to the nurse. She will have a better idea of the symptoms of PPD. If its truly PPD then she can either make you an appointment for a sooner time or tell you what you can do in the meantime. PPD is very real and you shouldn't have to suffer until they can fit you in!

I'm sure that with all of the family drama that is going on, it's not making your life any easier. Even though that is not your fault, it's natural to feel guilty for not providing a "perfect" environment for your baby. Get on the phone and get help from your doctor, and if they can't see you, ask if they can refer you to someone who can because you are desperate and it's an emergency.

On a side note, babies don't need much to be happy. There are kids in foreign countries who don't even have diapers, and they're as happy as can be. They're a product of their environment, and all they really need is love and nourishment. Just keep doing your best and take care of yourself.

Yes.  I just went through it all myself.  I am now just getting off the meds after three months.  Closer to 4.  I talked to my ob over the phone and they called something in for me without seeing me.  Good luck.  I know it is terrible right now.  I feel your pain.

thanks everyone for the responses.  The bf and family situation isn't helping things today.....

He tells me to quit crying, then proceeds to get mad.  He wakes the baby and then hands her to me........then I ask him to wash the bottles while I took my car to the shop....they were still sitting there when I came home.  He then has the nerve to ask me why I keep getting mad at him....

I tried to reach the nurse, but no one has called back.  My family and bf think there is no reason to go to the doctor....I just need to suck it up and be a mom.

A certain amount of it does involve "sucking it up"...but you'll be MUCH more capable of doing so if you deal with the underlying depression.

I just had my 3rd baby and have had it all three times and it's horrible. Sounds like you have it and need to get on some meds. Zoloft has worked for me all 3 times and so I've stuck with that. The full effect takes 4-6 weeks but I felt MUCH better by day 6 on it this last time (the other times it took about 1-2 weeks too to start feeling more like myself again).

PPD makes you not want to take care of your baby, feel overwhelmed, and just sad all the time (plus a bunch of other crappy stuff that isn't fun). I had that and then anxiety on top of it each time. The zoloft took care of all the depression and anxiety and was a night and day difference on how I felt after I started taking it!!! Life was worth living again!

I just have to be on meds temporarily after each baby and then I can wean myself off. I have been on zoloft for 3 months now and am in the process of weaning off. I think the chemicals have evened out in my brain and my hormones have leveled off since having the baby- plus I've adjusted to having one more kid and am sleeping much better. Sleep is a major thing that contributed to the PPD and when I wasn't getting sleep, it made it worse.

If you ever need to talk, just PM me or email me at [email protected]. I would get on some meds as soon as you can- they are out there for people like you and this is the depression and not YOU! You can get back to feeling like yourself soon with the help of the right meds. GL to you!!
