Has anyone else been so early out and gotten pregnant, the nurse told me that they suggest using a "back up method", thanks for telling me NOW!! Anyway I've list 85 pounds after having the sleeve and am within 15 pounds to my goal. I still have little to no appetite, is it possible to have a healthy pregnancy and baby? Help, I'm so worried, will I be able to eat enough? The pg test shows a light line, I don't have a gyno appointment for almost 2 weeks, any suggests would be welcome, I would love to read other WLS patients who had healthy pregnancies so early out.

Thanks in advance!

I got pregnant (very BIG Surprise) 4 months post-op VSG. I had lost 100 lbs & was within 5 lbs of my goal weight, but I was not @ a healthy place nutritionally. I really struggled with dehydration & malnutrition post-op. So, I have had a hard time getting enough food/nourishment during my pregnancy. I am almost 34 weeks & baby is measuring small. She is developmentally fine, just not very big. We (sleeve patients) have the benefit of not having any malabsorption issues. So, that's a big plus. It is totally possible to have a healthy pregnancy. I definitely would never suggest getting pregnant so early post-op, but I am making every attempt to keep myself & our baby as healthy as possible. I wish you the very best : ) This board has been a wonderful resource during this pregnancy !!!

on youtube I followed a woman who got pregnant at 4 mos out also.  Her pregnancy was normal and healthy, she still had weight to lose and kept losing slowly the first 4 mos of her pregnancy.  Her daughter is totally healthy and normal.  The only downside healthwise is that now it is hard for her to lose any more weight.

If you are curious to see her journey, search for GreeneyedLolo on youtube.

You'll be fine.

I found out I was pregnant barely 9 months post op and so far this pregnancy has been perfect.

I haven't gained any weight and baby is measuring perfect and is extremely active. The great thing about VSG is there is no malabsorption to worry about, just remind yourself to eat every 2-3 hours and you'll be fine (protein and carbs)!

If you're still worried, ask your OB to refer you to a nutritionist who has experience with post-WLS pregnancies.

I got pregnant accidentally 8 months out -- I had heard I might be more fertile, but I didn't know the extreme weight loss would compromise the effectiveness of the birth control.

Anyway, I'm 13 weeks today, so still early but so far so good.  The baby is measuring normally.  I originally lost 5 pounds but I am up one this week.  I am still 20 pounds from goal weight but obviously am not going to worry about that for a long time.

My doctor did labs on me last week, but I won't know the results until my amnio Nov 9 unless he calls me before then.

Keep us posted on how you're doing.  I am super nervous as well but am just trying to eat well and take my vitamins and not stress out too badly.

Okay so turns out I'm not pregnant. Apparently I was over dosing on hormones. I was taking the active pills straight for 3 months at a time so that I would only get my period every 3 months. The dr said it was to much and could be what gave me the positive test result since the line was very faint. We were a little disappointed believe it or not we started to like the idea of another baby so after I hit the 1 year mark we might try and get pregnant. So for the next few weeks I'm off birth control to reregulate my period.
