So I tested a couple days early...

And a BFN. That was a standard cheapy test I had around. I have a digital test that I will take if AF doesn't show her ugly self. I'm kinda not wanting to test at again though...I don't want to be disappointed if I'm not.

So...if I'm not we will just keep trying. What do you guys think of folic acid? Good to take while trying? I take my prenatal when I remember(getting better about it)! What are the pros and cons of taking folic acid? This first timer needs some insight! LOL.

My OBGYN has had me on prenatals and 5 mg of Folic for 6 months and we're TTC #1 next month. Then again, I'm 40 so all the extra help I can get to ensure a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby I'm all for! What my OBGYN said is that Folic is one of those nutrients that you cannot OD on. So have at it... build up your folic acid levels. It can only help!

Yup. Folic acid is pretty important. And, for what it's worth, I took three tests from the dollar store that all gave me a BIG FAT and QUICK negative, and when I took a Target brand test like 6 hours later, big 'ol positive. So, hang in there!

Folic acid is very important pre-pregnancy.  It prevents some pretty major birth defects.  I don't know what the 'normal' recommended amount is - but you should be able to find that online.  I also take 5 mg, but am older than dirt and have had problems w/pregnancies, so can't tell you what the normal amount is (though the dr has said that folic acid is one thing you can't OD on).

Re your vitamins, obviously you know that they're important - whether ttc or not.  The best suggestion I can give you is to put them some place where you will see them and take them every day.  ie...I usually have a huge cup of tea at night, while watching TV before bed.  I put my vits on the end table - all piled up there in the way - right next too me so they're in my face to remind me.  If I put them out of sight in a pretty little cabinet or something, I'd never take them.  Give that a try - even if you get one of those pill things you can put your weeks' supply in rather than all the bottles - just to make sure you get them in.

Good luck.  I hope that if this month continues to be a bust (it might not...results can change over the next few days!) that next month is a good month for you.
