anyone else have to share their room with baby....and feel guilty?
Right there with ya, we have a 1400 sq ft 2 bedroom condo :)
Luckily this is our first, so he still gets his own room, but he was in our room for the first 8 months. It really wasn't so bad! I will say that, the older the baby gets, the more aware he/she will be of you in the room and will sleep less soundly.
When we have a guest they sleep in the nursery (we have a day bed in there) and Rowan sleeps in our room in a pack n play. It sounds terrible, but we put him in the closet. There's plenty of space in there and an AC vent. We can close the door while we're getting ready for bed so he isn't so easily disturbed. Is your master closet big enough that you could sort of make a mini nursery out of it?

Mom to two of the cutest boys on earth.
Connor is our fifth child in the house. We have 3 kids who are teenagers and one who is almost 11. So he is in with us. My oldest step son is moving out in Jan. So in 6-12months we will move Connor in with Cameron (11 year old). We have 5 kids in a 3 bedroom house. It's TIGHT! But once my husband is done with his masters we will be buying a much larger home.
First of all. A baby has no clue where it sleeps or what it's room looks like as long as it's safe and warm, fed and most of all LOVED!
We live in a 2 bedroom apartment. Tristan will not sleep in his room, so rather than loose the space, we kinda use it as a giant closet. When Keiran comes, he will just join us all in the bedroom. My great grandmother had 8 brothers and sisters and they all shared a BED!
You'll do fine sharing a bedroom! :D atleast that's the way I look at it.

We bought a small 3 bedroom house this summer. The living room and kitchen are really small and it bothers me more than I thought it would. I googled ways to make the best use of small spaces and got lots of great ideas. I love my small house though because it has everything we need and we can afford it :)
I have so many friends who live in bigger houses that they can't really afford. How are they better off?
Also, I think that having a small, modest home will teach my kids good lessons about a more modest lifestyle and whats really important. family, love, stability, health etc.
I will remind myself of that when I try to figure out where to put our Christmas tree this year!

Don't feel bad! Trust me.... I spent over 2K on Bailey's nursery.... only to move her out of her room to share one with her sister when I found out Carter was on the way! She only had it for maybe 2 years! I betcha he or she would love a "big girl" or "big boy" room down then road that they can help you decorate! :) I remember when my parents built their house when I was 8 and how special it was to help my mom pick out my unicorn and princess wall paper border:)
We are in the same boat. We would probably lose about that much too.... so I just remind myself that it is good to wait - maybe by then we will have 1 more baby and need 1 more bedroom!

Thanks everybody for your replies. We do have a walk in closet, but no AC vent there so it wouldn't work. We figured out last night, in order to rent this condo out when we move, we will have to pay $400 out of pocket every month. So, I guess it will come to that in about a year. I would love to have a house with a big dining room, and have big holiday dinners every year. I have memories of that as a kid and they are my favorite. Oh well, maybe in due time

Oh wow I know the feeling of not having room. Me and my husband live in a one bedroom apartment with a living room, kitchen, and a bathroom. Not sure on the exact size of the apartment but a decent size compared to some one bedroom apts. I am not planning a to move until our lil one is about 2 or 3. We will be sharing our one bedroom with our child for awhile. Sad thing is we cannot afford to live in this one bedroom let alone going out and getting a 2 bedroom apt. Now with the baby coming our budget will be even tighter!! I have no idea what we will do as far as when it comes to moving. I do have a big living room and I could cut it in half and do a room divider and make half of that a bedroom..If I have to and I will. As long as I have a roof over my head and a warm place to sleep thats honestly all we need to survivor. I am not going to be fancy about living a life I cannot afford anyhow. I know lots of ppl who live together and do not have a living room space..they just have beds everywhere in their house and thats it. Personally all the stuff we need is not much anyways. Everything else that ppl do is luxury. I try to keep things simple and to what we can afford.
I have lived without a working shower and plumbing before for like a few months in the winter time no less. Lived without heat in the winter time too. Sometimes you do what you have to do to survive. And when you live where you work and make to mu*****ome for any kind of help from the state..its very hard to even get by with what you have. Ridiculous if you ask me we have one income and that one income is way to much for us to get any state assistance. So we pay cash for everything we have.
At least you have more space than me i am sure. That should make you feel better.

Wow Dee. after hearing that, I feel bad for complaining. You really put things into perspective for me. I hope you never have to endure those sort of hardships again (or anyone else). I see people with mcmansions who struggle to pay the mortgage every month, who live well above their means. At least we are comfortable and can afford a few extras. I always question why the builders keep building bigger, bigger HUGE houses that no one can afford, and then they wonder why forclosures are at the highest they have ever been. I'd be happy with just another small bedroom and bigger dining room, but like you said....it could be much worse. Best of luck to you!
