I am planning on getting Amelia clothes and a few toys. She'll have NO idea what she got this year so I am not going all out. I know my family will spoil her rotten! I was also thinking of getting her some of the baby einstein DVDs and things like that.

You could always check out the thrift stores and yard sales! I love layaway at Kmart too

I totally understand why you are questioning this. I want Rory's first Christmas to be great, but I know she won't remember it at all. I am with Liz. I am probably going to get a couple outfits (since she'll need clothes) and a couple toys. Chances are she'll prefer to play with the wrapping paper anyway

But on a slightly more serious note...I am all about teaching my kids to be happy with simple things. So I plan to always have a simple family Christmas. I hate how entitled kids are these days and I really want my kids to not fall into that. So, even if I had the $$$, which I don't, I still think I would be simple for Christmas. Just food for thought.

Savings Bonds!!!!!!!  My husbands family gave him savings bonds for holiday, birthdays etc when he was born till he was old enough to appreciate gifts on those occassions.  He still has them in our safety deposit box and they worth some decent cash now!!!  I have carried on the tradition and that is all I have gotten my nephews for Christmas the last couple of years.  I could get them an outfit they will outgrown in a few months, or a avings bond that will be worth somthing when they are an adult.

Just a thought :)
