Hello everyone,
I have posted a few times on this board, but am mostly new here. I am about 6 weeks pregnant and only 6 months out from RNY. Pregnancy was not planned. In fact, I was on birth control and used condoms during my fertile time; but here I am pregnant. While one of the main reasons I had WLS was to have a child, I certainly did not want it to happen this soon.
I have been crampy since I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks ago. When I had an ultrasound done the Dr. could only see the sac, but was not concerned. She said I was probably only about 4 1/2 weeks along. She tested my HCG levels and they went from 2100, to 4300 in 2 days and from 4300 to to 12,199 after 4 days. Dr. said those were good. I am scheduled for another ultrasound on Oct 19th. In the meantime, my emotions are all over the place. I keep telling myself what will be will be and I have no control over it and then the next minute I am freaking out because of all the cramping. Then to top it all off I had a few spots of brown blood. I know both of these can be normal, but it scares me.
Anyway, I am trying to figure out how to deal with this and so far it has not been easy. On one hand, I am so happy that after trying for 6+ years to get pregnant I finally am. On the other hand, I keep thinking something is going to go wrong because I am so early out from RNY.
I am hoping some of you can give me some "words of wisdom" to help me through this.

I GOT PREGNANT 6 MONTHS OUT AND I WAS SCARED TOO BUT I DIDN'T GO TO THE DOCTOR UNTIL I WAS AT LEAST EIGHT WEEKS PREGNANT. I DID THAT BECAUSE I WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY COULD SEE SOMETHING ON MY FIRST ULTRASOUND. SO TRY TO CLAM DOWN AND RELAX THAT THE BEST THING AS OF NOW!

Take a deep breathe. Relax. All three of my baby boys didn't show anything on an US until I was at least 8 weeks. They tested my HCG a few times and said as long as it goes up, everything is fine. I cramped and had some bleeding with all three as well. No biggie. Just old blood as long as it is brown. I was told to only get concerned if it is bright red and alot. I did have some red but never alot. I actually lost weight while I was preggo all three times. Just listen to your doctor. They will guide you through and you will do fine. I had my first child 16 years ago. But there is 13 years in between her and my first boy and two more after that. lol I have read about so many ladies getting preggo so early out and do just fine. If you are really worried, pray. He will listen. Good luck and I hope all goes well and you can relax some. God bless you.

Thanks for the reassurance. God Bless you as well.
Those early ultrasounds are EVIL. Nobody can make up their minds about what is "supposed" to be there. My OBGYN had the nerve to call me while I was in Kohls and tell me that since she only saw a gestational sack at 4 weeks, that my pregnancy would most likely not be viable. As long as you are not having sharp, severe and frequent cramping with bright red blood, then try to remain calm. The minor aches and twinges are probably from your ligaments around your uterus stretching. After all the emotions and aggravation I went through with my early ultrasounds, I wouldn't even recommend anyone get one until 8 weeks along. Make sure you are eating right and taking 2 multi-vites a day, plus calcium citrate, and get your vitamin levels checked soon from your surgeon. That is all you can do at this point, and try to relax!

Yes, they are. I do recall reading a post about your first ultrasound. Glad things worked out for you. Take care!
I also got pregnant by accident at 2 1/2 months post op. I had a perfect pregnancy, labor and delivery. I now have a perfect 9 1/2 month old. I realize not everyone is that lucky no matter if you have had surgery or not but you shouldn't worry yourself because you are only 6 mo post op. Many many babies have been perfectly fine!
