Still Worried About Feedings
Hi ladies....
It seems like Anushka wants to feed differently everyday.....even though I try to keep it consistent. I know I posted about this the other day, but I am so confused.
Yesterday, she ate 3 ouncesat 7am, then wanted more at 9am, but only ate about 0.5 oz then fell asleep. She was wide awake the entire two hours.....talking to her daddy, singing with me, etc. She slept until 1:45......I changed her and fed her three more ounces. Back to sleep she went. Up at 4pm, so I fed her again because we were going out to dinner. She stayed awake for a little while while I got her ready. About 5:30, she demanded more food (I've figured out the cry). Again, ate about 0.5 oz and back to sleep. She slept all through dinner and until about 9:30. Fed her 3 ounces again.......she fell back asleep....woke up again at 11, took another 0.5 ounces and back to sleep until around 2:30. Then it was about 1.5 to 2 ounces every three hours until 9am.
I make 4 ounce bottles, but she won't take anymore than 3 ounces, so giving her more at one time doesnt work. I'm not sure if it has to do with her reflux or what. I feel like I am doing something wrong......She is gaining weight fine, but I don't want her to gain too much too fast.....nor do I want her to be deprived.
I get two poopie duapers and about 6 wet diapers a day.
Any advice is greatly appreciated! THANKS!

My Dr is a firm believer of feeding on demand. He told me that a baby that young won't eat just to eat they eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full. I have done this all along with Amelia and it did regulate later on. After a while she did get on a set schedule. Early on though she was eating about every 2 hours.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Rowan defied schedules as well until he was about 4 months old. Just feed her when she's hungry, babies are usually pretty good at knowing when they want to eat and when they don't.

I agree with everyone else about babies feeding like crazy. However, I was wondering what formula your doc has her on. Tristan had really bad GERD and was put on similac sensative RS which has rice starch in it. It's heavier and harder for them to spit up as much. Once he got on that it seemed to help some with the crazy eating since it's heavier and stays with them a little longer.
As always if you're really worried, ask your Dr.

Thanks everyone! Similac made her sick....really sick, but I am going to check and see if Enfamil has somethng similar.
I will check with the pediatrician on Wednesday to see if I can change the formula for her.
I think PirateMommy said it best....nothing makes you feel more inept than a new baby and being a first time mom.
Thanks Again!!

How old is she? Sorry I am new so I don't know the details. She is having the correct amt of wet diapers so that is good news. Plus you said she is gaining weight, also good news. I am a peds RN and the rough guildline we go by is 1oz per hour at work. So 3oz every 3 hours. For the most part it sounded like she was doing that. All babies are alittle different. Of course always check with your Dr, but it sounds like you are doing just fine.
