Iron Supplement during pregnancy

My surgeon has me taking 60mg of iron a day - at night so I sleep through the queasies... my prenatal vitamin (Concept DHA), has 53.5mg of ferrous fumarate (apparently equivilent of 17.5mg of elemental iron) and 38mg of polyssacharide iron complex (equivilent of 17.5mg of elemental iron). My biggest issue is that I have become horribly constipated... So I want to know a few things: does my prenatal vitamin contain enough iron for me to not have to take the nightly supplement too? Do I got by the elemental iron ratio meaning that it is only 35mg of iron per tablet, or do I assume that I am getting 91.5mg? And finally since my prenatal contains iron, should I not be taking my calcium supplents at the same time?

Thanks for your assistance :)

I am also on Iron as I am low. I take 2 slo fe iron pills per day with a vit C. I also take a prenatal. My Dr said not to take it with Calcium. As for the dose that I guess would depend on how your levels are and if they are low. Good luck on your pregnancy.

I take two iron pills plus my prenatals. I have to take 2-3 stool softeners to help with the constipation issue.
