Connor's Birth Story...
It's been such a busy couple days but Connor is in a milk coma so I have time to type :)
I arrived at the hospital at 6:00 am and by 7 we were on our way. I was 2cm and 60% effaced. They started the pitocin and about 30 mins later I was feeling contractions. We walked around a lot and the contractions were really starting to get bad. I asked for my epidural around 12:00. He had 6 attempts at getting the epidural in place. It was SO painful, I can't even begin to tell you. By the 5th one he had said he was worried he could not get it placed. I was pretty swollen he said. At that point I almost lost it. I was contracting hard...and I was SO scared I would feel my whole labor. I'm a wimp. Plain and simple. Well he got it in the 6th time and my right leg was numb but I could still really feel the contractions. At that time an internal monitor was also placed. I was contracting every 2 mins and they were very painful. Finally by 4 PM they checked me I was 6.5 cm and baby was VERY low and 90% effaced. Within mins my contractions were 1 mins apart and SOOOOOOOOOO strong. I instantly started to feel like I had to push. Sure enough by 4:15 I was complete. They made me wait for my Dr.....it felt like forever. Anyone who has been told don't push knows how awful of a feeling it is to not push. I could feel everything and my contractions were SO painful. Finally she showed up and she said ok give me a push. I gave a push and she said I was a GREAT pusher. She told me to not stop at the next push just push all they way until the baby is fully out. My first had wider shoulders than his head and almost was stuck. So I gave a HUGE push and Connor was totally out! I pushed maybe 5 times!! It hurt but it was so much easier than my first birth. I did tear but not nearly as bad as with my first.
I can't believe I made it through feeling everything! It really was empowering!
Connor is so calm and so amazing. He hates to have his diaper changed. He only cries when I change him or if he is hungry. We are having some issues nursing. But we are working through them. I'm so blessed and on cloud nine. I already told hubby were having another one LOL!
Thanks ladies for all the support over the years!!
