Emegency Department.....again!
Hi Ladies....
So at 6:30 this morning, off to the ER we go. At around 2AM, Anushka started sounding really labored with her breahing. She wasn't fussy, but was moving a lot in her sleep. When I fed her, she started making this awful sound....kind of like a gurgle from her head. I thought maybe I hadn't burped her well enough, or kept her up after her feed. So, I picked her up and held her up trying to burp her and just basically keep her upright. She fell back asleep. She kept moving for the next few hours, her breathing sounding worse. I woke her daddy up and he said we are not fooling around, lets leave for the ER.
They did a chest xray, listened to her, took vitals and temp...all that good stuff. The resident that came in first said Anushka didn't have nasal congestion and it was probably her reflux that I was hearing. The xray looked good and her lungs sounded clear. But they would swab her for the RSV virus just to make sure. The next thing, the attending came in. Listened to her, looked at her skin, asked me numerous questions......and then looked at me and said your daughter is full of boogers. Apparently, even though I suction every day a few times a day because of the reflux, there was dried mucus and stuff impacted in her nose. They used a lot of saline and suction her nose really well. The stuff that came out was really gross........the color was because of the dried up formula the dr said. Then she looked back in her nose and said along with reflux this baby has allergies. Apparently, she was swollen up there, too.
So, all in all....what it could have been we were fortunate, but I feel like I passed my respiratory illnesses onto her. I have severe allergies, as well as severe asthma. Then I feel like I should have made sure her nose was clean......it was my fault all that built up.
I just needed to get it out ......thanks for listening!

Dont beat yourself up too much! None of us are perfect =)
You said it yourself, you suctioned her daily...now u know ur little one needs some EXTRA extra help in that area and Im sure you'll do everything in your power to make sure a trip to the ER isnt necessary again!!! You did exactly what I've been doing with my little one (she is dealing with a cold and quite a bit of congestion) I'll be adding saline drops to get what I may have been missing!
Glad Anushka is ok...those darn boogers!
Take care

Oh, man. There is nothing on this planted that will make you feel more inept than being a new mom. Lydia is 14 months old, and I still feel so dumb so often. You are a good mommy, that's why we have insurance and ERs ... to use. I would have done the same thing! These little nuggets don't come with instructions ... we need those docs and nurses to tell us these things! :-) Don't be hard on yourself .. you're doing a great job!
