Worried about the way my belly's growing.
For some reason I feel that my belly is growing funny. I look at all the pregnancy pics of the size your belly should be at certain weeks and mine looks nothing like that. I was a baby shower today and 5 other women were there and yes they were all farther along than me but still I would not show off my belly cause I am embarrassed by its shape.
Everyone that I see that is pregnant their belly is growing up below the belly button. For some reason I have this huge hard bump above my belly button. And nothing hard below my belly button and my belly is growing over my belly button. I thought your belly grew from below your belly button not above. Now what I find strange is whenever I go to an Ob appt and Ultrasound the baby is below my belly button. I have no round tummy there. I am just curious why my belly is growing like that. I am concerned about this now cause its like I have this huge overhang above my belly button that is getting huge. And to me it looks like I just have a HUGE MUFFIN TOP. I bought a maternity belt and you can still see two rolls under it. Did not round out my belly at all. I am so confused why my belly is that way. What I see when i look in the mirror is this HUGE ROUND TOP ROLL on top of my lower belly roll that is soo flat. Basically looks like I am just getting fat again and i do not like it. I am crying because I am so upset over the way my belly is growing. Has anyone else had this issue?

Just curious, are you at your goal/ideal weight?
What you're describing sounds a lot like the way my belly grew pre-wls when I was pregnant with my twins. The uterus is pushing up from your pelvis and pushing your intestines (the muffin top above your belly button) and since there may be extra fat/skin there, it looks larger than your uterus.
At 20 weeks, when you lay down, you should feel the top of your uterus even with your belly button... everything above that is just skin, fat and intestines. This time around I was nearly at my goal weight and for the first time I have a nice "classic" pregnant belly (no muffin top!).
Bad news is that you may never have a nice D- shaped belly if you're still considered overweight, that top muffin top will remain throughout your pregnancy. However you may be one of the lucky ones who does "fill out" as you get further along.
Either way, try to enjoy you pregnancy- Who cares if your belly isn't the typical "pregnant belly" as long as you and your baby are healthy?

No I have not meet my ideal goal weight yet. I am 195lbs and still overweight. And when I lay down my belly def looks weird. I can see exactly where the baby is laying. I just see this big lump where she is and my belly is flat all around her.
Ok..yeah I just wanted to make sure that I was not the only one who had that problem. Cause I was wondering if I was stretching my stomach out from eating and that my stomach was getting bigger again. I am hoping that I will fill out better when I am farther along. Only cause I want to get professional pics done of my belly and me and hubby. Prolly will not be doing a bare belly shot if my belly looks like I have two rolls still. But at least want to be able to tell that I have a baby bump there.

I wish I knew how to do pictureds on this thing..because even though I am only 15 weeks today, out bellies are identical!! I had the panni surgery may and then got pregnant 2 months later and I am totally flat under the belly button and then HUGE above it!! I keep saying that I am carrying high...so I'm with ya on this one!!!
It's a girl !! Robyn Marie...!

Sorry, this is upsetting you but this is how my belly grew as well. To most people I don't even hardly look prego. I just have a huge upper fat roll, that's how I see anyways, and it's hard to see that when we have worked so hard to get thinner. I only have a few weeks left, and I know i will never get the beatiful D shape that most women get. I have the B shape, but I am fine with it I know my baby is in there and he is growing and kicking like crazy. I just recently start to look a little more prego, and when I tell people I am having this baby on Nov 11th, they are shocked that I am that far along. They just say you look like you are getting thinner, which I don't feel like, but it's a nice compliment to get at 34 weeks.
Yeah I have been getting the same compliments the last few weeks. Is how I look much thinner than I did before i got pregnant! I think that is great that ppl think that..but like you said..I do not feel that way. I just feel like I am getting fat all over again. Instead of looking pregnant I just look fat.
I am glad my baby is doing well and I am doing well. I will just have to live with the fact I will not have that nice round belly that comes with pregnancy.

I was just wondering why you are concerned? I think all of us have this issue, but nothing concerning, the baby is not being harmed in any way. It's just the extra skin. Everything is being pushed up, that's the way mine is as well. Some days when I'm extra bloated, I look like I'm farther along, but the bottom isn't filled out at all. It probably won't until the end.
I took a peek at your profile and I think you look great BUT I do hear your heartache so please take this the right way...
Stop wearing such fitted tops and go with more of a flattering a-line top that ties in the back. Not only will you be more comfy but those tops make everyone look pregnant! Even skinny non-preggos.
Before my tummy tuck and after losing the weight I used to wear those kind of tops all the time to hide my residual bulk. I felt cute and like I was accentuating the positive and nobody ever saw my rolls.
TRUST me step away from the sweaters and fitted t-shirts that are less flattering and go with the flowy tops, be comfy, stop obsessing over your bump and be a a happy mama-to-be!

I've been here since 2002, I just like to pretend I am NEW!
Do it! Go with more of an empire waist type thing that ties. You'll love it! Also, they are very in style right now.
I just hit up Value Village, Goodwill, thrift shops, ect and got a few cute ones. TRY them on, take them home, get them Downey Fresh and make them your own! Be very selective only chosing to bring things into your wardrobe that makes you feel awesome.
