"borderline low vitamin D level"
I am 16 weeks pregnant with twins had WLS labs this week and the nurse called today to tell me I was borderline low on Vitamin D. Told me I can start a RX of Vitamin D weekly. Told her I am alrady on that! She said just keep taking it then. I looked it up and read that low Vitamin D can lead to pre eclampsia issues. Concerned...she didn't actually give me the level to tell to my OB dr. appt there next Friday.

I'm not familiar with RNY surgery, but I wanted to add that low Vit D levels don't cause pre-e.
Doctors don't know exactly what causes pre-e. In the case of pre-e survivors also having low vit D levels, it just an example of "correlation does not imply causation".
Did you call back the nurse and find out the info you need for your doctor? Seems like a good place to start.
Goodluck! Grats on your twins! Twins are so much fun! My girls are 18 months old and into *everything*!

Go outside and get some sun!
I tested borderline low on Vitamin D and didn't take any supplements or change my diet. I just started taking afternoon walks on my lunch break, and it actually did the trick! I never realized what a hermit I was! LOL!

We do absorb d-3 better. Vitalady has this 50,000 iui in powdered capsules. They help me a lot. I took one of these a week and one of the d-2 50,000 iui prescription a week while pg. I was also concerned about taking so much Vitamin D and my RE worked with a specialist at the local specialty hospital and found out it was safe to take these high doses.

Since you are in a northern state, all the fall and winter sun in the world probably won't budge your D levels now. Many people (WLS folks and normies alike) need fairly aggressive supplementation. I agree with the poster *****commended dry vitamin D3. You may not need 50,000 IUs a day, but start with one or two a week and take your prescription too (the prescription often doesn't help at ALL, so don't feel like you're taking a ton more D than you should) and get rechecked in a couple months. I have read a lot about vitamin D and while I am giving medical advice here, obviously, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it can cause fetal abnormalities or anything, and it definitely is good for you and your baby.
