what is the normal length of time the surgeons usually want you to wait b4 getting pregnant?  Does getting pregnant b4 you hit that time frame usually cause problems for the mom?  I notice some of you said you got pregnant and then lost that baby sorry to hear that, do your doctors think that it was because you got pregnant too soon after WLS? thank you all for your answers they are appreciated!

I got pregnant almost exactly a year out. No problems except my vitamin levels which i struggle to keep up. My honest opinion is we all had surgery for a reason. To improve our health and quality of life. And while children are a blessing and a joy. All responsible surgeon's suggest you wait at least a year before getting pregnant. And this is for a reason. Your first year your body is still adjusting to the major life change you put it through. You are still in the rapid weight loss phase. Surgeons like to see your weight loss and eating even out to give the baby the best chance it can inutero., Having a baby before that time can be done and of course has been done. But like I said they all suggest you wait for a reason.

I was 3 and a half years out in july when i got my BFP! Hubby and I weren't trying but weren't NOT trying either. It was a total shock!! I'm almost 19 weeks now and have had no complications what so ever. I did get to goal about 2 years ago and regained about 35-40lbs, but so far during the pregnancy I've only gained 7-8 pounds now.

6 months out, but I had a revision to RNY in April, I had lost all my weight 5 years ago with the lapband. If I still was losing, I would have waited the year.

Well, I'm currently pregnant and got pregnant at 14 months post-op. My first few months being pregnant were awful - cramping, constantly vomiting, some spotting - but now at 6 months, I'm enjoying everything. The vomiting is gone and we're both doing well.

Proud mama of Mischa and Gabriel, both born post-op.
