I have an appt next tuesday. I'm wondering what type of things I should make sure and ask?
Thanks!:D

I started TTC when I was 37, almost 38 and I wanted to be as educated as possible. My RE did a vaginal sono to look at my girl parts to make sure everything looked healthy (no cysts- plenty of eggs, no blocked tubes, etc etc) Then he did blood work to check my hormone levels. After all that came back in the clear we were good to "go". I had just gotten my Mirena IUD out and I wanted to make sure my short term disability insurance was truly active and we started trying a few weeks later. Blake was conceived on the first try, so its a good thing we waited till my insurance was effective...lol.

I'm not sure where you are on your journey. Good luck to you and I hope that he gives you all the right answers! I didn't know what to ask either, but my RE is a good doctor and knew exactly what I needed. I hope you get the same level of comfort from yours!

Do you have a log of your last 3 mos. periods? when they started? how long they lasted?  When you ovulated (on time or late?)  They'll ask historical questions like that.  For you, they will do bloodwork, they will check for ovarian reserve, hostile mucus, they will do a sono for your parts, they might recommend an hsg to see if your fallopians are clear; depends on where in your cycle you are.  If you are close to ovulation they will see how many follicles you put out unstimulated and measure the lining you produce etc. and be able to tell what's going on now to help predict what will happen if stimulated.  They should also want to have a sperm sample from your partner to see his quality, motility and morphology to rule out issues from him prior to a first IUI.    IMHO, even if you do drugs w/no IUI, get him tested as its just a waste of your time if his swimmers aren't plentiful and strong.  Clomid can really wreak havoc on your emotions and you don't want to be on that stuff for nothing and docs will only prescribe it for so long as it also ups the chances of certain girl cancers so make the most of the time you are on it.   Good Luck!
