14W 2D -Could the doc be wrong?
Fourteen weeks is absolutely too early for gender determination because both female and male appear to have male parts. They both have a genital tubercle. It isn't impossible to determine gender that early but you would need both a very good view and very good ultrasound tech. Ingender is a great site to post the pic on and see if the ladies there have an opinion. I think that early a side view is necessary rather than the potty shot because it is important to see the angle.
From what I understand 18-20 weeks is when gender determination should be made but many independent u/s places will do a scan at the very earliest of 16 weeks. I wouldn't go buying any blue till your big ultrasound.
