Ultrasound and HCG levels

I found out I was pregnant a little over a week ago.  Birth control pills and condom failed and I am terrified about being pregnant so early out.  This is a bittersweet moment for me since I went through years of fertility treatment with no success. 

Here is my dilemma.  According to my last period which was on August 24th I am almost 6 weeks pregnant today.  According to my ultrasound that was done last Thursday I am 5 weeks pregnant today.

My HCG levels are as follows: 

September 28th  2,100
September 30th  4,300
Ocotber 4th  12,199

I am so confused.  Isn't 12,199 high for being 5 weeks pregnant?

Higher levels are good! If you have a current copy of What to Expect, there is a useful HCG guide in there, week by week.
Mine is lost under laundry piles, lol.

• 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
• 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
• 7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
• 9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
• 13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
• 17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
• 25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
• Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
• Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

Here are normal HCG level ranges. They double about every 48hrs. Pregnancy is not an exact science, its a miracle sometimes u/s are off too so as long as its doubling and going up you should be okay! :)
