VSG Newbie w/Question Re: How long after surgery did you wait to get pregnant?
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum and am not pregnant yet. But I just wanted to say how excited I am to have found this forum for planning my pregnancy and so on. :)
I do have a question for the VSG patients. How long did you wait to get pregnant? My surgeon said 18 months after surgery but I am getting very antsy. I will hit my 1 year mark in December and I am hoping to get my surgeon's blessing to start trying after just a year out. Do you all think that is too soon? Does the extra 6 months really make a difference?
I am not at goal yet so my plan is to get as close to my goal as I can for my appointment on 12/28 to show my surgeon that I am pretty much done losing and ready to get pregnant.
I appreciate all of the advice and support in advance. Thank-you!!

I am a year out and I am knocked up! I didn't plan it though Soooo.. It's kinda up to you on what you want to do. Lots of women have gotten pregnant before even a year and have healthy babies. Are you ready to stop losing? Cause that goes out the window. Also might consider, it can take a healthy couple 6 months of trying before they get pregnant.

Hi
I fell pregnant only 6-8weeks after my VSG. I carried Rylan for a few months and had the hardest time trying to eat. Some of it was being so early out from my VSG but a HUGE amount of it was from morning sickness. It was the worse I have ever had with my 5 pregnancies. I will be trying to fall pregnant again hopefully on my next cycle which will be about 9months post op. I know it's still falling short of the 1yr but my gyno has told me not to wait any longer due to some results I got back and my age. I can eat so much more now than what I could back then and I know I have read of other women having healthy babies within the first yr of their VSG.
Goodluck to you

I know you posted a while ago but I was looking up to see if anyone else was pregnant before 18 months as well. I was only 3 months post op when I found out I was pregnant. It FREAKED me out!!! It was not planned. After talking with my OB and surgeon they reassured me that I am healthy and that everything is going to be great! I am still very concerned. I had two daughters before surgery and everything was normal. Anyway, good luck!!
