Ideas for a Co-Ed Baby Shower?

Hi, Everyone!

My mom is hosting my baby shower on November 13th, and I need to send out invitations soon. We have decided to make it a co-ed event because my husband really wants to be included and it's our first child. We are blessed to have a wonderfully supportive group of friends!

Do any of you have suggestions for a co-ed shower? We are very laid-back and non-formal. We are having a "Baby-Q" where we will serve up barbecue and people can enjoy a couple of alcoholic beverages. The party will be in the early afternoon because we're all going to a hockey game later in the evening.

I'm at a loss as to what to do for games. I think the melted chocolate in the diaper is hilarious, but my mom is kind of prudish and thinks that's disgusting, lol. Any ideas?

we did the chocolate game it was a blast!!  we also did a game where we passed around baby food and let ppl sniff it and guess what it was.  we did the baby bottle chug game where you get a few ppl to drink as fast as they can out of a baby bottle.  also we did as "admission" to the shower you had to bring a pack of diapers then they got a raffle ticket for a special prize which was a gift card.  goodluck!

Give everybody a clothes pin and when they hear somebody say "baby" they take theirs and at the end of the shower the person with the most gets a prize. Also have a tray with small baby items on it, bring the tray out and give people 1 minute to memorize whats on it and then write down as many as they can remember.

A Couple of classic, but tried and true games that are fun and inexpensive:   Fill a baby bottle with candies, have guest guess how many are in there, the closest wins Clothes Pin game, each guest gets a clothespin, they cannot say the word baby, if they do, whoever hears it gets their pin, the one with the most, wins Partner Diaper game, guests partner up, one uses left arm, the other right (one hand each) and must diaper a doll baby Rice and Safety Pin, Take a bowl of rice and add in safety pins, guests are blindfolded, they get a minute, timed, to sort out as many pins as they can….most wins…it is harder than you think! Baby Food…have unlabeled jars of baby food for tasting, guess the flavor Bottle Race: This is fun for the guys, fill baby bottles with juice, beer, soda, whatever, and have guest race to see who finishes first Also they sell trivia napkins that have questions for guests to answer that you have reviewed before….those are fun…and you can make your own too!

I hosted a co-ed shower last summer and wanted to avoid any cheesiness. The 2 games I came up with (besides baby bingo) were this: I filled a transparent blue bag (it was actually one of those decorator bathroom garbage bags) with like 30 diapers, tied it with a bow and put a tag on it "The Diaper Bag" guess how many?? Then I filled a mason jar with pastel hershey kisses, tied with a bow and decorated with stickers. I made a printout on a computer sheet with baby footprint paper, where the guests could guess how many of each & write their name down. The diapers and candy went to the parents to be, and I got a few of those huge hershey bars as prizes. Everone loved it and no corniness to make the guys uncomfortable. I will try to post a pic.

I had a co-ed baby shower too and one of the funniest games that the men really excelled in and everyone enjoyed was "guess what flavor baby food". The hostess took off all the labels and just placed numbers on the jars, then she wrote down what each one was by the number so she could remember. Everyone would take a spoon of the baby food and who ever had the most ones right won. Men tend to be game to taste anything..LOL...

What ever you come up with HAVE FUN sweetie :) I love showers!!!

I don't have any ideas for games, but the last two showers that I went to had a little note in the invite asking that all gifts be brought unwrapped, as the guests arrived the mommy to be's greeted everyone, looked over the gift and then set it out with the card so that everyone could see what she got. It saved SOOO much time, and it was the first time I had ever been to a shower where the mommy to be's were relaxed and actually got to have a good time b/c there was no pressure to get everything opened. It thought it was a great idea.
