I was just reading the last post about RNY being high risk and such but any sleevers out there considered high risk too?  I currently don't have insurance yet so I was pushing off the Dr appointment a few weeks.. not sure if I still should.

Thanks in advance!

I was wondering the same thing, as I am about to be revised from band to sleeve and really want to try for a baby next year!
If you are pregnant and don't have insurance, you may be eligible for your state's medicare program. In Oregon a pregnant woman is eligible if they have under 185% Federal Poverty Level in your household... may be something worth looking into! I work at Dept of Human Services :)

I am 5 weeks. And yeah I am kinda stressed about the insurance thing. I had a plan that I was going to get insurance, work up some vacation days and have a decent living space before I worked on the baby front.. Ha ha.. You know what they say about all the best layed plans. But I wouldnt change it for the world.

Hi, congrats on your pregnancy!  I had my sleeve done Jan 08, and nearly died from the related complications (see my profile).  I have a hot mess of scar tissue all over my abdomen, and a huge scar going from my boobs past my belly button.  Depsite all that, I was NOT considered high risk.  I consulted with my surgeon and OB before getting pregnant, and they were both fine with it.  Keep up with your post-op vitamin regimen (maybe add DHA) and get in as much protein as you can.  You'll be fine :)

I personally don't think WLSers should be considered high risk automatically.  I had a DS and I am considered high risk, but not because of the surgery.
