When did you do the glucose test?
It just depends on your OB's preference. My OB does the GTT @ 20 wks for multiples and 24 wks for single pregnancies.
I'm declining it this time around. The GTT is just pregnant lady torture, in my opinion.
My reasons for declining:
- I don't like the idea of bombarding my body and baby with sugar (corn syrup- YUCK)
- the GTT has a history of a high levels of false-positive or false-negative results. 30% of women fail the first test and have to go on to do further testing, even though only 2-3% are ultimately diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes
- treatment for GD is following a healthy diet, I already eat healthy.
Just because it's routine, doesn't mean it's in you or your baby's best interest.
Goodluck!

I had RNY but I had my early jelly bean test at 16 weeks and that was Negative (thank goodness!!) and I was told I would have another jelly bean test @24-26+ weeks. So I am hoping that it is still NEGATIVE!! But I did fine with the jelly beans, even though it was on an empty stomach. DH was worried abt my sugar dropping afterwards b/c I hadnt eaten that morning but no Troubles at all! Good luck with your test and hoping for a big fat NEGATIVE!

You do know that you have the option to opt out of doing that sugary drink right? What you can do is the fasting test. What happens is you can't eat or drink anything after like 8 or 12 at night depending on your doctor. Schedule your blood draw for the first thing in the morning. Then go eat breakfast and two hours later have your blood drawn again.
Doctor's usually do this screening anywhere between 24-28 weeks on average. So I would say no its not too soon. I just did mine last week at 28 weeks. It was easy breezy.
