When did you do the glucose test?
Hi, everyone!
I had my routine OB appt today to go over the blood lab for the genetic tests (Down's Syndrome, etc) and they all came back negative, yay!
I was surprised when she gave me a work order to go to the hospital for my glucose test sometime in the next 2 weeks. I'll only be at most 24 weeks when I have it done. Is that the norm? Seems like I see most people having it done at 28+ weeks.
In other news, my blood pressure is still fantastic, I've gained 4 pounds this month (constipation may be a factor there) and my belly is measuring normal. Heard the baby's HB and it's strong as ever!
Thanks in advance!

MY OB won't put me through the fasting glucose test due to being a post op, but at my last appointment this past Monday...17 weeks 1 day...she did what she called an early glucose screening. They did a total A1C work up with my down's syndrome blood work and markers. I go to an office with 4 different female obs and they've all agreed that they will have me scheduled for another appointment in 4 weeks and I have to fast again then every 2 weeks for 3 visits I will have the same blood work up done.
They did mine at 12 weeks with my first panel of genetic testing I think they will test it again later on for me.

That could be because you have the lap-band and don't have an intolerance to sugars. I'm hoping that will be the case for me, too. I can totally understand how some people have a hard time with it if they have the bypass and have difficulty with really sweet stuff!

I apologize, I didnt mean as far as how it makes anyone feel when they take it. I was talking as far as the taste of the glucola drink itself. Some friends I talked to talked about how horrible it tasted. I apologize if I made it come off as how different people actually handle the effects of it.

LOL! My bad.
Yeah, I have heard a lot of people say that they gagged/threw up because it was just terrible... and then I have heard others who have compared it to drinking "flat orange soda." Either way, I'm hoping it's not bad!
I do plan on taking the test and have no intention of opting out of it. Sugary drinks have no ill affect on me, so I don't really have a reason not to!
Thanks to everyone for your responses!!
