So, I blacked out this morning...

I was so tired yesterday that I came home from work and went to bed at 7. So I skipped dinner. My alarm went off at 5am, I got up, felt okay. Took a shower. Then, when I was blow-drying my hair, all of a sudden I started getting "tunnel vision" and my arms and legs started going numb. I got those hot pins and needles all over like I was going to throw up, so I went downstairs to get a glass of ice water.

I don't remember going downstairs. When I "woke up" I was sitting up on my kitchen floor, buck naked, glass of water in hand. It was probably only a couple of seconds, but I have no idea. I couldn't get up right away because I was shaky and my legs felt like jell-o. So I sat on the cold floor for a while and sipped water. Eventually, I got up and ate a few saltines just to get something in my stomach.

It was pretty damn scary. No one was home. So this is my "public service announcement".... DON'T SKIP MEALS!!! lol

I've had this happen SO many times...usually when im blowdrying or straightening my hair.  It's awful.  it subsided around 23-24 weeks, and now i only get it when I am standing for way too long.  My doctor told me its from my low blood sugar and my heart pumping so much blood its not used to pumping.  Worst feeling imaginable.

Yeah, I felt lightheaded once before when I was blow-drying my hair. I thought it was morning sickness back then. I think I'm gonna have to put a chair or stool in the bathroom so I can sit down while I get ready.

I have almost passed out twice on the subway. The first time a woman noticed I looked iffy and let me sit down, then kindly reprimanded me about not eating enough. The second time I got off at the next stop and sat on a bench until I felt better.

Ugh, I couldn't imagine having that happen in public around a bunch of people! At least someone was nice enough to let you have their seat!

I had this happen to me when I was pregnant with my twins. I blacked out and collapsed in the shower for a few seconds. Very scary but thankfully the worst I suffered was a black & blue elbow when I fell.

Supposedly its very common in pregnancy. Glad you're ok!

Oh man, that's scary. I wish I had a bench in my shower so I could sit down... I'm afraid of falling and hitting my head and not having anyone around to help me. I've never gotten dizzy in the shower, though. Only immediately afterward. And my showers aren't even really all that hot, either!

Oh yes skipping meals is a no no. I had waited like 6 hours one day in between meals when I was about 9 week pregnant and OMG me and my husband were on our way to dinner. We were going to one of our favorite restraurants to eat. On the way there all of a sudden I got very shaky and dizzy and felt lightheaded and I grabbed ahold of my husband as he was driving and said Omg I feel like Im going to pass out. I said we need to hurry and I got to eat something before I do. It was an aweful feeling. I have not felt that way since because I do not skip meals and eat all day long.

I guess I figured that since I was asleep that it wouldn't matter, lol. Live and learn! I always keep snacks in my purse. I've been out grocery shopping and have had to rip into something before I bought it because I felt dizzy. Yesterday, I DID eat all day long! But I skipped dinner for sleep, so I guess that was the culprit.

Mandy, I have been in the same boat you are in.  It happened early on in the pregnancy with me in Target all by myself!!  My nutritionist said that when that happens to drink some OJ and that is like an instant fix and to eat immediately.  But that is IF you can tolerate OJ! LOL  Me I LOVE OJ and it agrees with me so I keep OJ with me most of the time.

But I hope you are feeling better since this happened.  I wonder why alot of the time it happens when we are drying/straightening our hair lol?  Thats so interesting.

I hope this never happens again to you.  Take care of you and your precious baby girl!!

Have a GREAT weekend!!
