Ok I will get it out of the way now, I am a very thrifty person. It physically pains me to break down and spend a lot of money on something, and will only do this after hours of online googling for a better price. After window shopping at Babies R us for a week (OMG, expensive much??) I set out to find some better bargains.

Burlington Coat Factory (Baby Depot)- you need an hour or so alone in this store wih no kids pulling on your hands. Get a babysitter. Head for the clearance rack, immedietely. Run. This is what I found ....a gorgeous white eyelet cradle bedding set (bumper, comforter, but sheet was missing). I think it was on a floor model. Whatever, I have a washing machine and bleach. Price... $6.99. Went home and found the same thing on Amazon for $79.99. Also, nice thick terry cotton bibs (that look like towels) for 99 cents. Left this store on cloud nine

TJ Maxx- Carters sleepers for $4.99. Burp cloths, bibs and infant toys for less than half of what BRU charges. AND...they have a clearance rack. Too many little things to list that I bought, but I left with a big bag for under $25.00.

Marshalls- affiliated with TJ Maxx, I believe. Same stuff at same prices. But did you know that evil customers will rip open packages of burp cloths, recieving blankets, and towels, (thus making the package no longer marketable? Oh well....all priced individually at 50 cents each. Scour the clearance rack. Like I said, I have a washing machine, LOL. Left with a big bag  that cost less than $6.00.

Overstock.Com- Those same $200.00 crib bedding sets from BRU are there for about $100.00. Plus nicer ones I haven't seen in stores. Some of them are absolutely stunning and come with wall hangings and matching pillows. Definitely utilizing this when the time comes.

Have fun!!

My favorite Store is Burlington Coat Factory too!!! I love it!! And yes Babies R Us is very expensive I went there first and changed my mind about the baby registry there. I did just one at Burlington. Love that store and will be buying most of my stuff there.

The only thing I think BRU has going for them is their registries, and convenience. I am trying to pick up as many cheap things as I can because I can't see anyone in my "cheap" family actually getting me much off of a registry. I am looking for a site that will let me register at a few different stores, from one website. If anyone knows if this can be done or what the name is, please let me know, thanks!

I thought that babies R us was expensive until I saw Buy Buy Baby by Bed bath and Beyond! Now I saw the same things that BRU had but higher prices! Target is a good place for registries!

I don't know about your Target, but mine has a crappy return policy! If you register there, definitely ask about it. I registered for my wedding there, and they would only take back TWO returns and they had to be $20 or less! I love that store, but refuse to register there because their return policy is dumb.

I def agree that BRU is way overpriced! I'm also thrifty and here in the area we have an awesome consignment shop. I went browsing just last week and found a boppy for 9 bucks with a cute safari cover. I just simply took the cover off and washed it :) They also had the convertible car seat/ stroller combos for only 70 dollars...they had a few nicks and scratches on the cup holders, but the store did a wonderful job of making sure the cloth covers were all VERY clean and no stains. I can't wait to get the showers over with...yes, I'm having 2...one in PA the day after Christmas for all of my family and friends back home and one here for my other family and friends here.

One slight warning with Burlington...used to work there so dealt with this A LOT!! Make sure you stress to your buyers that they MUST provide a copy of your registry at the register...yes, they do have it on file in their systems, but at least 3 times a day we had returns because they were never taken off the registry and be sure to let your cashier know BEFORE the scanning starts or it won't come off the registry either. Also, be aware that the downfall to BCF is that they do not offer refunds...they only thing you can do is get an in store credit or an exchange...I know we always need supplies and all that, but just something important to be aware of.

Have fun shopping!! I can't wait til next month and hopefully a cooperating little one to find out what were having :)

Not that most people need to take advantage of this LOL but if you buy three of the same item at Burlington Coat Factory they take 33% off your whole order! It was wonderful when I was buying stuff for the triplets!

I had issues with Burlington when I first did my registry for some reason it would not come up!! So i had to redo the registry a few weeks later. But I like that store and everything is nice in there. One thing is  Chelle I hope you are not buying to much stuff. Idk if you are having a baby shower or not but if you do then ppl will be buying things for you like crazy. I have not bought anything yet cause I am waiting til after my baby shower to see what I get and then buy what I did not get. I do not want to go overboard and have to much stuff that I will not ever use. I have heard of ppl having so much stuff that they did not ever get the chance to use it. To me thats a waste of money.

So far I am just buying little things like bibs,a few recieving blankets, ect. I remember with my daughter 12 years ago I went through dozens of bibs, sometimes they just get so nasty you have to throw them out. I had my 1st baby shower when I was 19, and even though everyone knew I was going to be a young single mom (and my mom hosted the shower in a restaurant) nobody got me much. No big ticket items or anything. Nothing like todays showers. So I will make a registry somewhere and hopefully people will utilize it, but I am not holding my breath. Although it would be nice if my MIL would eventually offer to buy a few things. She has a lexus, a 700K condo (because she's told me dozens of times how much it cost) and goes on 2 cruises a year. But...NO wedding gift for us last year, although she did keep herself quite tanked throughout the affair at our expense. I can predict I will have several threads dedicated to her over the next nine months. :)

If you have a Carters Outlet near you try there as well. This weekend I bought all kinds of sleepers for like 4.00. Also I went to walmart yesterday and got sleepers for 5.00 a piece.
