Weight loss in 1st trimester!

I am 12 months post-op. I am 5 weeks pregnant. It was not planned. I was losing very slowly when I got pregnant. Like 1-2 pounds a week.

Since I found out I was pregnant a week ago I have lost 10 pounds! I am still overweight. I am doing the best I can to eat. Somedays I can eat better than others, but it's harder as the morning sickness gets worse.

Did you lose weight at first? What amount of weight loss in pregnancy is normal? I'm worried about it. My doctor is just doing blood work this early bc it's early. Said to check with my surgeon. Who told me to talk to the nutritionist. Who told me to take a prenatal and my regular vitamins. And to eat 1500 calories a day.

Congrats on your pregnancy! I lost 15 pounds in the first trimester, then gained a 5, then lost 10 more, I keep going up and down. My Dr. says I am doing great, and not to worry the baby is getting everything he needs. I am still overweight too, so I don't really need to gain anything she said. I am sure your doing just fine, it's hard to eat when you don't feel good in the first trimester. Good Luck with everything!

I lost 4 lbs in my first trimester, gained maybe 2 total in the 1st and 2nd and now am up 20 by my third. My OB hasn't been concerned with any of those stats because the baby's been growing fine. Your weight loss doesn't mean the baby's not getting what it needs. They'll take what they can from your body :-)

I lost about 10-15 first trimester. I have lost 7 pounds so far right now and I am having twins. I am about 6-7 weeks along now. Doc said all of that was fine.

Thanks for calming my fears ladies. I am doing all I can to eat enough for this baby! But the scale is still going down.

I lost 5lbs durring my first trimester and I'm 5 years out. The baby can thrive by taking what it needs from you. Don't try for a number because you will find yourself struggling. Just take the vits as suggested, and eat your regular bariatric diet (just add a little milk, some whole grain bread and some fruits and veggis if you are very strict on your eating. I added one cup of milk, two slices of wheat bread, some light veggis and an occasional bite or two of fruit to my mostly protien diet.)

Don't worry, your doc should keep a good eye on  the size of the baby during the second and third trimester
Good luck

I was also 12 months post-op when I got pregnant.  Lost some more in my first trimester, stayed steady in the second, and gained a little in the third.

Don't worry about your weight (either loss or gain) unless your doctor is worried.
